Rising Stars: Meet Kaitlin Fontenot of Castle Rock

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kaitlin Fontenot

Hi Kaitlin, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Around 11 years ago, when I was 25, I was ready to give birth to my first child. At the time, I was working in retail (over) full-time and genuinely loved my job.

After I gave birth, I naturally needed to figure out what was next so that I could spend time with my son when I needed to. I had asked for a little bit of a pay raise or to have one extra day off a month, I was told no…the best no of my life.

I had been teaching myself how to use Shopify and learning how to code for the last several years at that point. I had a background marketing and a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing so I was naturally really drawn to that side of things.

I quit my job in retail and decided that the combination of my extensive retail background sales, marketing, buying, merchandising (just to name a few) and my knowledge of Shopify and the online online space could really be something that could help other women.

I launched our marketing agency and never looked back. Being an aviation family, it’s been nice to be able to work from wherever we live or wherever we are. But mostly, I’ve really enjoyed the women that I get to work with every day and being brought into their lives.

Now, I work with women from all over the world – whether they need to launch branding, rethink their packaging design, need help finding quality and trustworthy manufacturers for their new product lines, build their Shopify websites, assist with their SEO strategies, or even help them with email marketing and Shopify growth plans…I LOVE what I get to do everyday.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Absolutely not!

Being a mom obviously makes being an entrepreneur a little more tricky. Couple that with the idea that my husband was just getting into commercial aviation when I started my business.

I was basically alone nonstop – trying to figure out how to run a successful business while also raising a child and being really involved. We didn’t have family around or any help… Some nights looked like me only getting two hours of sleep for almost 6 years.

At the time – it was absolutely incredibly difficult. But I would never go back and change a thing.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Our agency is known for being THE Shopify experts.

Sure, a lot of people know Shopify. But what our clients love the most are these core things and what sets us apart from others.

3: We’re a no fluff agency. I don’t believe in big promises we can’t fulfill and I value my clients and their businesses & relationships with us immensely.

What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
I believe our industry is moving into a positive space where people who VALUE their work and relationships will be honored over those who don’t care about anything past the monetary value. Those who don’t see web design as something to take seriously, will be pushed out. Those who REALLY love what they do and respect their clients will continue to grow.

People are starting to see through the smoke and mirrors and I personally love it!
