Meet Matthew Falkner of The Dam Grille

Today we’d like to introduce you to Matthew Falkner

Hi Matthew, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
The Dam Grille opened in 2005 and has always been a locally owned family bar and grille. We are a great location to catch your favorite game with your friends while enjoying excellent service, great food and ice cold beer’s. We are big fans of the Broncos and Minnesota Vikings drawing quite a crowd for both teams. Some of our favorite food items you should try when you come in are the Bronco burger or our chicken wings but we also have great salads and Mexican fare. We have developed a family atmosphere with both our customers and staff which without them we wouldn’t be what we have become today. We hope you can come enjoy a good time with us as your friendly neighborhood sports bar.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Things are always a challenge in the restaurant business but we put our best foot forward and deal with things as they come. Some recent struggles came during covid when we were shut down but we continued to do takeout and did what we could for our staff retaining the majority of them throughout the crisis. Without the great team we have developed and loyal customers placing orders I’m not sure we could have survived.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
We are a locally owned restaurant with one location who does the best we can to provide a great experience for the neighborhood customers. You should know that we are a great place to host a gathering or party but also just to stop in for a quick bite to eat. We’re a place to watch your favorite sporting event but also a place to shoot a few games of pool while playing the jukebox. We specialize in giving excellent service with great food and ice cold beer’s which we rotate on a regular basis doing smaller tap takeover where we feature 5 beers from one brewery that rotate about once a month. We are set apart from others by being a great local hangout that isn’t trendy but where we care about the people who come in and our customers become part of our family and every day life, so when something happens it is felt by all of us just as it would to your family and friends. We are proud of our contribution to the community helping local schools including Cherry Creek and Thomas Jefferson high school and also donating when we can to people who need it in our community. We have been able to donate turkeys at thanksgiving to Aurora interfaith to help make sure people in our community where able to have a nice Thanksgiving meal who may not have been able otherwise. You should know that if you come into The Dam Grille you will be accepted as family and we will do our best to ensure you have a great time while you are here.

We’d love to hear about how you think about risk taking?
The restaurant business is risky in general but you get out of it what you put into it and all our employees put in a lot of time and effort to make The Dam Grille a great place for all our customers to enjoy.
