Meet Kyle Maurer of Storm Goat Roofing and Gutters

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kyle Maurer

Hi Kyle, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My story starts here in Colorado. I was raised in Grand Junction and moved to Gunnison for college, where I graduated from Western State with a bachelor’s in business. Out of college, I worked for the Department of Labor in unemployment insurance. But being stuck in a cubicle 5 days a week wasn’t for me. I needed something that would get me out into the world. After 6 years at the Department of Labor, I decided to take the leap and join my good friend in 2016, working as a roofing contractor for his company and starting my LLC, Storm Goat. The work was hard but rewarding. Before long, I was one of the company’s top salesmen, and in 2021, I was ready for the next step – running my own company.

Now, Storm Goat Roofing and Gutters is growing quickly, serving the entire front range with residential commercial roofing and gutters. My wife and I run the day-to-day operations from our home base in Golden, Colorado. Through extensive networking and word of mouth, I’ve been able to secure fantastic working relationships with my roofing crews, subcontractors and customers alike.

Working with people and being in sales is incredibly fulfilling because it allows me to build strong relationships with clients and provide them with peace of mind. I love meeting new people, understanding their needs, and offering them solutions that enhance their homes and lives. There’s nothing more rewarding than seeing a satisfied customer and knowing that I’ve made a positive impact on their day-to-day living environment.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
One of the struggles I faced early on was gaining trust with customers. Being a fresh face in a saturated industry like roofing, I had to prove myself and build rapport with each and every new customer. But in the end, it really pays off. Having the professional trust of my community enables me to do what I do.

We’ve been impressed with Storm Goat Roofing and Gutters , but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?

With over 10 years of hands-on experience, our company has built a legacy of trust and reliability in the roofing industry, delivering high-quality, durable roofing solutions to homeowners from Ft. Collins to Colorado Springs and everywhere in between.

We love our community and want to give back which is why we offer discounts to active-duty military, veterans, teachers and first responders and we always offer free roof inspections to everyone.

Risk taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
As a roofer I know a thing or two about risk taking, not to mention the risk of starting a business from scratch in a highly competitive market. I think risk taking is necessary if you want to get far in life. It’s that leap of faith, not knowing if things will pan out, that got me where I am today.
