Today we’d like to introduce you to Brianna Pierce
Hi Brianna, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Tay and I started Roots with the intention of bringing a year round farmers market to our community. We wanted to give Keenesburg and surrounding communities access to some of the great products that are being made right here in Colorado, that they may not always have easy access to. We’ve recently branched out and added in a few more out of state products, but we continue to focus on quality first and foremost.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I would say it’s been a relatively smooth road, but there were some definite learning curves for us. We’ve never done anything like this before so learning how to run a business in general was a bit of a challenge, and then just trying to figure out what exactly the community would like to see from us was daunting. I do feel like we are slowly but surely figuring it out though!
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’ve worked at the Pepper Pod Restaurant as a server for 17 years now. I cut my hours drastically once I had my last two kids so I could be home more, and then when my youngest was about a year old we started Roots so now they come to work with me!
My business partner Tay has a financial background, and book keeping experience, so that has been a huge help in getting Roots started. Her and her husband, Casey, also recently started their own family farm!
What are your plans for the future?
We don’t have any big changes in plan for the future. We would like to see more of our favorite local companies be available in our store, which would just take some different licensing. We also would love to be able to offer some Colorado made wine, ciders, and spirits at some point.
