Daily Inspiration: Meet Regina Kypriandes

Today we’d like to introduce you to Regina Kypriandes.

Hi Regina, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I am the author of the Falling Series. It’s a contemporary romance fiction series about the chances we get and the choices we make. It is also loosely based on my own personal story that took place on the island of Ibiza almost 25 years ago.

I started writing this series in 2021 after my past memory of Ibiza came front and center with my present-day life.

I have written for as long as I can remember, but making a go as a published author or writing a book in general didn’t really happen until the pandemic hit. I, like many, was forced to stop everything I was familiar with and learn to start getting comfortable with the unfamiliar. I had a chance to truly reevaluate my life and what I wanted for it.

Writing was helping me cope with toilet paper shortages in guarded grocery aisles, curfews as an adult, closed borders, travel bans, the distance, and all the uncertainty.

I also just felt like all these universal signs kept landing on my path! As in, if I didn’t start paying attention I would eventually trip over one of them and smack my head on the pavement. I am a clutz after all. The universe speaks—all you have to do is listen.

So, after a 2019 trip to Europe and right before lockdowns happened, I was introduced to an actor that motivated me enough to take a leap of faith and finally chase a dream I have always wanted to chase but never felt good enough to run after. And, this story, barely scratches the surface. Lol.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Is life ever a smooth road? Is going after what you want ever easy?

No, my road has had its fair share of ups and downs, but that’s life. I wouldn’t change it or sit around and stew on what has gone wrong… it’s wasted energy.

The hardest part of this journey though is knowing I have a great book series and wanting to see it go global—get more recognition.

And, I am no longer afraid to boast that it’s a good book series because it might sound egotistical or bother someone that I have a shred of pride. That too was a hurdle I had to get over.

My series won’t change the world but it’s a fun read and everyone who has had a chance to read it has enjoyed it. Some more than others but that too is life… not everyone is going to like what you do or support it. Don’t take it personal, but at the same time understand where the criticism is coming from. Be your biggest supporter! Be proud and say F’ It!!! You are going to irritate people just by breathing, might as well be breathing and doing what you love simultaneously.

I will say this though… when life gets a little overwhelming and things aren’t working out as quickly as I want them to or not at all, I remind myself that I have in one way or another gotten everything I wanted in life, I just gets delivered on its own time. Also, two words: Norman Reedus.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am an indie author who is hopefully on her way to becoming a well-known author one day. I specialize in fiction. Currently, contemporary romance but I wouldn’t dismiss writing other genres as well. I don’t necessarily want to say that romance will be the only genre I will ever write. I’m not sure I want to be boxed in like that.

Not to mention, I have been told my first book had some suspense in it, so maybe down the road—after this series is done—I might try my hand at a thriller of sorts.

Hmmm… I am really proud of this series. It took me years to get out of my shell, to start telling people openly that I wrote a book or two and that I am currently working on a third. This has been a wild ride and I feel I am finally gaining some traction. The wheels don’t feel so stuck. I want to see where it takes me and ride this wave until then very end. I am proud of how far I have come, taking the leap and going after what some thought was an insane feat to conquer.

I think what sets me apart from others is my willingness to try… to go after what I want! Even if I fail, I learned. Even if one thing doesn’t pan out, something else always will. I had never had the luxury to sit back and wait for things to fall in my lap. I am proactive with my life. If something goes awry, I fix it. Sure, I will have a breakdown moment, but then I pick myself up and dust myself off. If I want it, I will find a way to make it happen. Does that make sense?

Alright, so to wrap up, is there anything else you’d like to share with us?
Sure, just some advice.

Life is short. Stop getting in your own way. Stop listening to the naysayers. Learn to say yes as much as you say no. Set boundaries, be patient, and be a decent person. We are all on this spinning globe together. We are just trying to make it… find some footing. And, when it is all said and done—the only thing you will regret was what fear led you to believe you couldn’t do.
