Today we’d like to introduce you to Elyah Tribe.
Hi Elyah, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Elyjah Tribe began 15 years ago as a collective vision to create dynamic multi-genre music that maintained outstanding lyrical content and excellence in musicianship. Founders Elyjah Tribe and Myron Hendley have been touring and performing for the past 3 years as a duo acoustic, neo-soul, alternative rock, jazz and RnB team that has a sound and presence that captivates all wide range of audiences from all across the world.
Elyjah Tribe the lead singer and song writer for the group plays and teaches 11 instruments and composes, mixes, masters, produces and writes all of his original music himself. He was born and raised in San Jose, California and personally mentored for over a decade by late drum lesson Louie Bellson who is documented as one of the greatest drummers and jazz musicians of all time.
Elyjah was a prodigy singer, drummer, pianist and vocalist since the young age of 7 and went on to earn his Masters Degree in Music Composition from Saint Mary’s College of California. He has currently released 3 albums and over 35 singles worldwide and is one of the most unique artists who can perform and create music to fit any genre honoring the roots and origins to maintain integrity for listeners all across the globe.
Myron is a smooth jazz soprano saxophonist who is on a musical journey later in his life even though he has been playing sax since he was 11 years old.
He grew up in Windsor Connecticut and started playing tenor sax in the sixth grade. He played all the way up to high school experimenting playing alto and baritone sax. At the beginning of high Myron decided to stop playing the sax and chance another dream. He joined the high school track team with hopes of running in the Olympics. Myron had a successful high school track career and went to college at Western Kentucky University. His hopes and dreams were cut short due to then President Jimmy Carter’s boycott of the Olympics and a serious knee injury.
After his Olympic dreams were gone, Myron did not chase his musical dreams for three and a half decades. He was sitting in church and got inspired by listening and meeting smooth jazz gospel saxophonist Ron McMillian. Ron became Myron’s mentor and soon they were playing together in church. With Ron’s help Myron found the passion to chase his dream of becoming a smooth jazz saxophonist not only just playing in church but playing live gigs.
It has been a fast moving musical journey for Myron. Within the past eight months, Myron has played at the famous Herman’s Hideaway in Denver Colorado three times opening up for the likes of Tony Exum Jr., Darryl Murrill and recently opening up for the legendary Hazel Miller. Myron Hendley met with the talented Elyjah Tribe in 2021 while preparing for one of his album debut shows in Denver, CO and hired Elyjah for his band and they became best friends and Bandmates since they first rehearsed together,
Myron hopes by telling his story and through playing his music he can encourage others to never give up on your dreams no matter how old you are. Once your dream comes true you will start living your life and understand the opportunity that God gave you.
These two incredible musicians are a duo who sounds like a full band with a unique blend of acoustic guitar, blues, funk, jazz, alternative rock, and RnB crowds are always given a show they will never forget!
From us to you, Truth Love and Light’
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The road has been smooth with our songwriting and performances but we have faced many challenges in finding our management and marketing team. In the beginning phase we also struggled with finding the right band members to get a larger sound but we then shifted to just the duo and never looked back. The music is the easy part for us but finding the right core group to take our careers to the next level is the big break we are looking forward to next. Our only other additional struggles have just been with figuring out our next tour and what cities we want to go to in order to share our music with the world.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
We are musicians and artist who seek to help heal others through inspiring them to be themselves and to always follow their dreams and goals in life. The most important part of life is to figure out how to make a living doing what you love most and for us that’s performing and creating original music for the world to enjoy. We are proud of performing together on 50+ stages, releasing singles currently played in over 40 countries and as we continue to grow we do it at our pace and on our time schedule to maintain the intensity and integrity of the music creation process. We were very excited to have been on Fox News 2 times in the past 2 years and we continue to push ourselves daily to reach new heights and are very excited for the upcoming singles and albums in the near future.
What sets us apart from others is our stage performance being an experience unlike any other you will ever see. You can feel the love and passion in every note we play and feel our connection as brothers and best friends. Another thing that sets us apart is our work ethic to be the best in any room we perform in as a standard of excellence so that we remain competitive and relevant is such a dynamic space as stage performance and the music industry as a whole.
Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
The main characteristic we feel is more important to us is hard work, commitment to success, constant practice and growth through doing and then refining. We are critical of ourselves first with allows us to perform in a very relaxed state. One of our favorite mottos is if you practice like you’re performing in front of thousands then it makes performing in front of a few easier because we believe every show is the same and always give 110% at every show, practice or event.
