Daily Inspiration: Meet Amy Quattrocchi

Today we’d like to introduce you to Amy Quattrocchi.

Hi Amy, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
In December 2019, I took my first beginner stained glass class while I still lived in Wisconsin. I was immediately hooked and bought all of the supplies and tools to start creating at home. After a few months of making many pieces and receiving a good amount of custom orders, I decided to start my own stained glass business which is now Green Pines Glass.
Two years later I moved to Manitou Springs, CO and continued to create. Being surrounded by mountains and historic architecture was extra inspiring. I opened an online shop, attended art markets, and have done well over 100 custom orders. Meraki Springs in Old Colorado City reached out to me and asked if I would like to sell pieces to hang in her shop, which I’ve now been doing for over a year. I also work at Colorado Glassworks in Boulder, CO a few times a month. I have learned so much from the owner Meggy and being able to work in her beautiful shop with some of the most unique glass I’ve ever come across, is a dream come true. I ended up buying extra supplies from her and acquiring everything I needed to start teaching my own classes (which was always a dream of mine). This spring, I taught my first beginner stained glass class in Meraki Springs in OCC. I love being able to share my passion with others.
My main focus right now is teaching classes and making pieces for the shop. I just announced my 3rd class for July. I have now been making stained glass for 5.5 years. My future goals are to eventually open my own in person store and create windows for historic homes or any homes really.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Stained glass is a long and tedious process and I definitely had some struggles along the way. Learning anything new comes with a lot of trail and error. The process itself, creating designs, and learning how to make shiny, smooth finished products took a lot of practice. Every year I felt like I learned more and I’m still continuing to learn. Even the online marketing and the business side of it.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am proud of how far I’ve come and what I’ve turned this into so far. Many late nights and long days of putting in the work. Consistency truly is key. Of course rest is needed but the days I felt tired, I still got up and told myself there’s work and practice that needs to be done. I am also very proud of my National Parks logo piece that I created for myself.

Do you have recommendations for books, apps, blogs, etc?
I feel like I’ve learned a lot from making real life connections through meeting other artists and people in the area. I’ve also had so much support along the way through friends and family. I’ve met other glass artists in the stained glass community online where we all share tips and tricks on instagram/FB. Everyone is so supportive of each other and it’s inspiring.
