Today we’d like to introduce you to Jamie House.
Hi Jamie, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
For me, design has always been a language of connection—between people, places, and time. I began my journey in Dallas with Lee Jofa, immersed in textiles that whispered history and artistry. From there, I stepped into the classical world of Hayslip Design Associates, where I was fortunate to learn the beauty of classical proportion and architectural integrity under the mentorship of Sherry Hayslip, ASID and the late Cole Smith, FAIA. Those early years instilled in me a reverence for the past that continues to ground my work today.
My path led me to Houston, where I worked for nearly eight years with Sharon Staley Interiors, designing high-end homes and penthouses. I wore many hats—space planner, custom millwork designer, project manager, and even a creative contributor to the firm’s digital presence and publications. It was here that I truly honed the art of crafting not just beautiful rooms, but deeply personal environments.
In 2012, I launched Jamie House Design, and soon after found myself designing luxury homes and high-rise clubhouses in Shanghai and Wuxi, China. That time abroad expanded my palette. My work has since traveled from Houston to Berlin to Denver, each chapter deepening my appreciation for thoughtful craftsmanship, historical layers, and quiet luxury.
Today, from my studio in Centennial, Colorado, I continue to design whole-home renovations and new builds with an approach that blends intuitive storytelling with structured refinement. I also offer a consulting service for those navigating the process more independently—something I find incredibly meaningful and aligned with my belief that everyone deserves a home that reflects their inner life.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The road hasn’t always been smooth—more like a winding path with incredible views and a few steep climbs. Adapting to different markets across cities and countries has been anything but linear. Each location brings its own rhythms, preferences, and logistical challenges. One of the most consistent hurdles has been finding tradespeople who not only execute well but who also collaborate with the same level of precision and artistry I expect. That part is always a bit hit or miss.
But what’s remained constant is the foundation I built early in my career—strong design principles, deep attention to detail, and a refusal to do anything cookie cutter. Design fundamentals don’t change, even when trends and regional styles do. That grounding has allowed me to maintain a sense of integrity and consistency in my work no matter where I am.

Jamie House Design is a full-service residential interior design studio specializing in high-end homes that are quietly eye-catching, deeply personal, and never ordinary. I work with clients on new construction and full-home remodels, offering everything from architectural detailing to final furnishings. My approach blends historical context with modern sensibility, and every detail is curated with intention—from millwork and materials to art and custom furnishings.

What do you like and dislike about the city?
Moving from Berlin to Denver in 2021—straight out of over a year of strict COVID lockdowns—was a bit of a culture shock. Coming back to the U.S. after that kind of global pause revealed just how much had shifted, both in society and in myself. But in many ways, it also felt like a homecoming. I’m originally from Colorado Springs, so returning to Colorado had a sense of grounding and familiarity.
The interior design community here has been incredibly welcoming, and discovering the talent and spirit of local artisans has been one of the most rewarding parts of my work. Their craftsmanship adds so much depth to every project. And of course, the natural beauty of being near the mountains continues to inspire me—it’s a big part of why we chose to settle here.
