Today we’d like to introduce you to Heidi Albete.
Hi Heidi, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Dr. Heidi Albete: My Why
Growing up in a typical American family, I witnessed firsthand the struggles of loved ones facing chronic illness. Again and again, I listened to stories of frustration and disappointment—family and friends leaving the doctor’s office with more questions than answers, their chronic health concerns unresolved. These experiences fueled my determination to find a better way—a path focused on prevention and true healing, not just the management of symptoms.
My search for optimal health began early, before I even knew I was looking for it, in the foothills of Colorado. Nature was my first medicine. The mountains and streams offered a sense of healing I couldn’t explain, only feel. As an athlete, I was drawn to understand the body’s mechanics, which led me to study Exercise Kinesiology in Flagstaff, Arizona. But everything changed in my second year of college when I discovered Naturopathic Medicine at a career fair. In that moment, my life’s purpose crystallized—I knew I was meant to become a Naturopathic Doctor.
I shifted my academic path, transferring to Colorado State University to pursue a degree in Nutrition and a minor in Kinesiology. During this time, I joined medical brigades in rural Dominican Republic communities, where we provided basic medical care to those in need.
During these missions, we saw and assessed over 50 people a day, between 4 – 6 doctors, checking vitals, diagnosing, filling, and refilling prescriptions. We helped a lot of people get access to medication. Even though the mission went back quarterly, it was far from sustainable health care for these communities. During those missions, I realized that true, sustainable health couldn’t come from prescriptions alone. I became determined to find a way to help people heal without dependence on drugs.
While my peers were celebrating college graduation, I was preparing for the next step in my educational journey, the Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine.
As a Naturopathic Doctor, I’ve learned to harness the Vis Mediatrix Naturae—the healing power of nature—to guide the body back to its innate state of health. My approach blends the science and technology of Western medicine with the art and wisdom of Eastern traditions. I have found that chronic health conditions cannot be solved by a pill or a quick fix, but by supporting the vital force and giving the body the right environment to heal and thrive.
My passion lies in helping women—especially those mothers or the ones wishing to become mothers—and children of all ages. I truly believe that early intervention, even before birth, lays the foundation for lifelong health. By helping children, we have the potential to impact not just individuals, but entire generations and communities. It starts with one person, and ripples outward to create lasting change.
Naturopathic medicine is the medicine of the future. It empowers us to address the root cause of illness, restore balance, and reclaim our natural vitality. My mission is to make this medicine accessible, understandable, and practical for everyone. Together, we can transform healthcare—one patient, one family, and one community at a time.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
All throughout my life, I have been more or less beaten down and broken down by the adults in my life. I was the youngest, so living up to my older brother’s “soccer star legacy” was impossible. I wasn’t ever the best at sports, and I was reminded of that often by coaches. So I wanted to be a singer and actress and yet again, time after time, was told I am not cut out for that either. I was never good at school because I didn’t have a passion for anything I was learning.
In college, my academic advisor told me I would “never be accepted into a medical program”.
Some relatives would even talk behind my back about whether or not I would “make it” in life. Because the way I did things were “different” than others. I had this passion burning inside me that was palpable but not directed so to others, if felt like wild fire. To me it was an inferno, something was burning but I couldn’t figure out what.
Then I discovered naturopathic medicine. It changed my world. All of a sudden, I felt like I had something to live for. This was my calling. This is what the fire was pushing me toward. Burning up all the unnecessary fuel around me
I had to change schools and majors, move to a new state, pack up again, and pursue what I knew I was meant to do. My whole life changed. My grades improved, my motivation and I started to become a bit more outspoken. This also shook the people in my life. My mom is one of my biggest fans, and she even at the time told me not to do it. Don’t go into medical school, it’s “going to be too hard for you.”
I went to shadow a Naturopathic doctor who also told me, “Don’t do this career. Become an acupuncturist or chiropractor but don’t become an ND, you don’t have enough tools in your toolbox.”
For each and every one of these comments and verbal and emotional setbacks, it made me stronger. I knew in my soul that I had a purpose on this planet, and I wanted to fulfill it! And nothing was getting in my way. So I took these comments and used them as motivation to work harder, move faster, and become strong enough to overcome anything or anyone who stood in my way.
I flew through medical school with flying colors! I took all the offered extracurricular programs to ensure my tool belt was as full as it could be.
When I graduated and finished my internship, I was able to get into my own practice and start healing people the way I always knew was possible. Now, I have a THRIVING practice. I treat chronic disease, the people whom other doctors cannot figure out how to treat. I treat the patients that the medical establishment has already pushed off to say, “There is nothing more I can help you with.” What they should add to that is, “you should do see Dr. Heidi Albete, Naturopathic Doctor, Health Detective!”
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Bring Us Back To Nature is a holistic healthcare practice rooted in the philosophy that the body has an innate ability to heal itself—when given the right tools and environment. As a Naturopathic Doctor, I specialize in blending Eastern and Western integrative medicine, offering a unique combination health care using applied kinesiology (muscle testing), homeopathy, plant medicine, functional neurology, and principles of Chinese medicine.
My practice is recognized for helping people heal who have not found relief elsewhere in the healthcare system. We achieve this by delivering highly personalized care tailored to each individual at every appointment, consistently seeking to identify the underlying causes of symptoms rather than merely managing or masking them.
What truly sets us apart is our three-pronged approach based in Applied Kinesiology—addressing the physical body, chemical or physiologic processes, and mental or emotional aspects of health. All 3 of these aspects need to be addressed together in order to push the needle toward true healing. I work closely with each patient to create a tailored plan that respects their unique needs, whether they’re struggling with metabolic syndrome, hormonal shifts, gut issues, immune challenges, or emotional well-being.
Brand-wise, I’m most proud of our incredibly high success rate in returning patients back to optimal health! We remove the guesswork by listening to the body through muscle testing, allowing for targeted, effective, and natural healing. Our new monthly membership program and upcoming quantum healing retreats will offer even more opportunities for individuals to access education, live interaction, and immersive healing experiences.
If there’s one thing I’d want Voyager readers to know, it’s that healing is possible, even when all other health care practitioners have written you off—and you don’t have to do it alone. At Bring Us Back To Nature, we’re dedicated to helping you thrive, not just survive, by reconnecting you with your body’s wisdom and nature’s healing power.
If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
The quality I consider most vital to my success is genuine curiosity—both about the people in front of me and the physiology of the human body in general, which stems from an openness to continually learn, question, and explore. I approach every patient and every challenge with a deep desire to understand the “Why”, the root causes, not just the symptoms. This curiosity fuels my commitment to staying on the cutting edge of functional and integrative medicine, whether that means diving into new research, pursuing advanced training, or experimenting with innovative healing modalities.
Curiosity isn’t just about gathering knowledge; it’s about truly seeing and hearing the individuals I serve. It allows me to connect deeply with my patients in hour-long appointments where I ask the right questions, and listen to what their bodies—and their stories—are telling me. This helps me craft highly personalized care plans that address the physical, chemical, and emotional aspects of wellness.
I believe that when you lead with curiosity, you never become complacent. You’re always searching for better answers, more effective solutions, and deeper healing. This mindset is what keeps my work fresh and my patients inspired, and it’s the driving force behind the growth and impact of Bring Us Back To Nature. Ultimately, curiosity is what allows me to empower others to take charge of their health and discover their own innate healing potential.
