Today we’d like to introduce you to Kole Taylor.
Hi Kole, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I was born & raised in Fort Worth, Texas. At a young age i was very interested in nature and felt a connection I can’t really explain with the earth & the beautiful creatures that exist here. My idol was Steve Irwin, and to this day is, however that passion and connection was suppressed in the path to pursue football, a sport I was gifted in. Felt a lot of pressure to perform at a high level & eventually led to me playing college football at the university of central Oklahoma which eventually led to me realizing I wasn’t living the life I wanted but the life people wanted for me. I blew up one day, dropped out and bought a one way ticket to Puerto Rico & a digital camera. From that point on I traveled the island documenting the beauty with my camera, this led to me traveling all over the world including 5 continents documenting the culture & wildlife of different regions. As an avid surfer and snowboarder I found a niche for filming extreme sports such as surfing and then it led me to filming skiing & snowboarding which landed me here in Colorado.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The road has been far from smooth but I’ve enjoyed every numb & screamed yeehaw through every storm god sent my way. From blowing up a rental car in Portugal to personal battles. There has been a lot of obstacles I’ve had to overcome.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a photographer & filmmaker, I do all sorts of work from building out content for commercial businesses to filming for professional athletes. My passion would have to be capturing beautiful shots of wild animals all over the world. I think touching back to that connection I felt as a child and understanding animal behaviors I am able to capture them in a unique light and put myself in the right positions. Similar to that of shooting extreme sports, whether it’s a follow cam or just anticipating when an athlete is going to perform a certain maneuver, I always try to be in the perfect spot to get that “money shot”
What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
I think the best quality anyone can have in any profession is kindness, move with purpose & intention and try to spread a light to the world. If you are kind to the people you meet and just bring your genuine self you will be shocked at the doors that open for you
