Hidden Gems: Meet Austin Baker of Colorado Garage Coatings

Today we’d like to introduce you to Austin Baker.

Hi Austin, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
As a Colorado native I was born in Littleton in 1997 and moved to castle rock in 1999. I have lived in castle rock since then. Growing up I played football, rugby, and I wrestled. After high school I started working in a kitchen washing dishes, fast forward five years and I’m a kitchen supervisor at embassy suites in downtown Denver when COVID hit it really discouraged me from pursuing the restaurant industry where through years of random jobs from serving table to pouring concrete I found Concrete Coatings. I worked for a business that fought me how to finish garage floors with a product called Polyaspartic, it’s like epoxy, just better! In January of 2023 I started my LLC and in April of 2023 the company that I was working with announced that they were closing and all company vehicles should be turned in immediately. So with my back to the wall I fully committed to my company and haven’t looked back, since January 2023 I have been serving the better half of Coloradoans with their garage flooring need. To this day I serve from Pueblo to Fort Colin’s with my company Colorado Garage Coatings

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
There has been a number of hurdles to overcome. I think one of the largest struggle for myself is industry wide, the market is overwhelmingly saturated with concrete coating providers, causing a lot of underbidding and undercutting

We specialize in Concrete Coatings. Polyaspartic to be precise. It’s an improved version of epoxy. We pride ourselves in being affordable, transparent, locally owned, and the best flooring system money can buy! We are proud to say that we have never revised an estimate or submitted a change order. What matters most to you?
I would have to say my Family and my community mean the most to me. I believe your family is your foundation and we all know how a strong foundation can effect anything or anyone. They ground me.
