Community Highlights: Meet ABSD DeLoach of A Better Standard Direction

Today we’d like to introduce you to ABSD DeLoach.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Like all humans, I knew inside of me that there was a gift attached to my sacred dance that I was searching for most of my life. Through opening a few different businesses, I left feeling unfulfilled by the work that I was doing. I would open a business and close it because I knew I had not yet found the work that made my heart sing. After years of internal, external and a ton of mindset work, I discovered that I needed to stop trying to fit into any of the boxes already created and make a new shape that would fit me and my gifts specifically. Through this navigation, I discovered that my unique lens of the world is how I am going to help service humanity. As I began to walk a journey of self love for myself, I learned how important this shift can be for all humans who do not yet understand how to prioritize the self. I had to take personal responsibility for my life and healing journey. This ownership allowed me to step into the fullness of myself and discover just how amazing life can really be! I took my pain and transmuted it into gold and now I teach others how to do the same for their lives.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Choosing an awakened path is not a smooth choice, but a worthy one. My road has been filled with bumps, unexpected curves, pot holes that blew my tire out from underneath me, and road blocks that felt completely unmovable. Through it all, I always had the knowing that I was protected and had the tools I needed to face any obstacle that arose. Many of my struggles at first were attached to the way I viewed myself. I had to learn how to believe I was worthy of the work I was doing and that my own unique way was enough. I struggled with making something that was difficult into a way bigger issue than it actually was. I had to learn how to be a CEO of my own life before the challenges in creating outside of myself faded away. While new obstacles arise often, I now have the tools to combat anything that arises. I ask for help as I need it and will take a pause, breath, and re-evaluate what I am doing before jumping back in. I struggled with learning the intricacies that owning an organization holds. I had to learn by doing, make mistakes, and offer myself grace when I did not get it right the first time. I still have to do this and celebrate each time I overcome another struggle on the path.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about A Better Standard Direction?
A Better Standard Direction is an organization that teaches people how to create a better standard direction of living for themselves and the world around them. At its heart, it is a social movement that is passed from human to human that creates new norms in society through the lens of personal responsibility and self love. There are many ways to be involved with the work ABSD does. Participate in any of our initiatives: these are designed to be small actions you can integrate into your life that help begin creating a new norm. Our name tag initiative encourages people to wear a name tag out into the world as a way of creating connection and community. This symbol tells the people around us that we are available for a conversation and have a desire to connect. Check out our other initiatives and see which ones feel right for you! This is a simple and powerful way to get involved in your own life by taking ownership of your power. At ABSD, we teach people how to become a catalyst of your own life. We believe that each of us has the power within to co-create our dream life. Through our three part Catalyst program, we teach the ABC’s of catalyzing. Beginning with a 21-day kickstarter program, Awakening focuses on opening up your awareness to more. Stirring up the dust to create curiosity and awaken you to the great power you hold within. Since at our heart, we are a social movement, our podcast Living ABSD exists to support this work. Through intentional topics, we teach on simple shifts you can make in your life to begin living through this new worldview of a better life for yourself. Each season has DUB guests (Divinely Unique Beings) that highlight the uniqueness of all of us as individuals. These episodes are designed to leave you inspired and curious of how you can live out your unique gifts.

Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
Do not be afraid to ask questions and to ask for what you need! If there is someone you admire or inspires you, reach out and express that to the person, an opportunity could be waiting there for you.
Allow yourself to be flexible and let the Universe surprise you.
Always show up to trying, even if you feel terrified.
Be willing to fail and learn from the mistakes you make, this is how we become more complex and well-rounded individuals.
