Today we’d like to introduce you to Tripp Parks.
Hi Tripp, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My story really started with a passion for health and fitness. I’ve been in the fitness world for years as a trainer, coach, and author, but things shifted when I began teaching classes for seniors in Denver. What started as a boxing class quickly grew into something much bigger — I saw how movement, strength, and even music could completely change the quality of life for residents.
Over time, I worked with more than 10 senior communities across Denver, refining what would eventually become the SAGE Program. Along the way, I faced plenty of ups and downs, including difficult business partnerships, but each challenge pushed me closer to building what I was truly meant to.
Then, life took me back home to North Carolina to help care for my mom, who has advanced dementia. That experience gave me a new perspective — not just on wellness, but on caregiving, family, and preventive health. Out of all of this, I founded Through Fire, a company dedicated to helping seniors live longer, healthier lives while giving communities tools to thrive.
Today, SAGE is running weekly programs in North Carolina and returning to Denver by demand. Looking back, it’s been a winding road, but every step has shaped the mission: using wellness to change lives, communities, and the future of senior living.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. Like most worthwhile things, it’s been a journey built on both grit and grace.
One of the biggest struggles was simply getting started. When I first began leading classes in Denver, I faced skepticism — would seniors really respond to boxing, strength training, or music-driven movement? The answer turned out to be a resounding yes, but it took persistence to prove it.
There were also challenges on the business side. Early on, I partnered with others who didn’t always share the same vision, and I had to learn the hard way how to stand firm in my mission. Leaving something familiar and starting fresh wasn’t easy, but it pushed me to build Through Fire into what I had always intended it to be: a company rooted in purpose, prevention, and people.
And then there are the personal struggles. Over the past few years, I’ve also been caring for my mom, who has advanced dementia. Balancing the role of caregiver while building a wellness company has been difficult, but it’s also given me a deeper understanding of what families go through. It’s why I’m so passionate about preventive health — because I’ve seen firsthand how much it matters.
Every struggle sharpened the mission. The setbacks gave me the resilience to keep going, and today I’m proud to say those challenges are the very reason SAGE has the depth, heart, and strength it does.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Through Fire Wellness Solutions?
Through Fire is a wellness company dedicated to transforming senior living through our flagship program, the SAGE Program (Senior Active Guided Enrichment). What started in Denver has grown into a movement — one that redefines what senior wellness looks like.
At its core, SAGE is about more than just exercise classes. It’s a science-backed, holistic program that combines strength training, mobility, dexterity, breathwork, and even live music to keep seniors moving, engaged, and thriving. But what truly sets us apart is that SAGE doesn’t stop with the residents — we train staff to use wellness as both a care tool and a sales tool. That means communities aren’t just offering “another activity,” they’re creating a differentiator that families notice and trust.
I’m most proud that this brand was built out of heart, grit, and lived experience. From leading classes in over 10 Denver communities to launching new programs across North Carolina, the mission has stayed the same: helping seniors live longer, healthier, and more independent lives while giving communities a stronger identity in the marketplace.
What I want readers to know is that SAGE turns underutilized gyms and wellness spaces into assets — places that generate value, attract families, and create joy. We’re not only preventing falls and improving health outcomes; we’re helping communities grow. Through Fire and the SAGE Program are proof that wellness, when done right, is the future of senior living.
What do you like and dislike about the city?
What I love most about Denver is its energy. From the Broncos and the sports culture to the live music scene and the outdoors, the city just breathes health and community. It’s a place where people genuinely care about living well, and that healthy mindset has always inspired me both personally and professionally. It’s no surprise that Denver was where the SAGE Program first came to life — the city embraces innovation in wellness and made it possible to pilot something so unique.
What I like least? Honestly, it’s hard to find much to complain about in Denver. If anything, it’s how quickly the city has grown. With that growth comes rising costs, which I know can be tough for families and communities alike. But even then, Denver has always had a way of holding onto its heart and staying connected — and that’s what makes it such a special place.
