Meredith Waller shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
Hi Meredith, thank you so much for taking time out of your busy day to share your story, experiences and insights with our readers. Let’s jump right in with an interesting one: What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
You know, I’ve really fallen in love with trail-running and it is not uncommon to find me enjoying a Boulder trail first thing in the morning these days. The solitude, space to think, and opportunity to deeply tune into myself have become a really treasured part of my routine. It brings me a lot of joy to genuinely enjoy my own company so much more in this season and have enough trust in myself to do things alone!
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Absolutely! My name is Meredith and I am a self-worth and anxiety specialist and therapist. After navigating my own struggles with self-worth and anxiety, I became passionate about helping others build a kinder, more grounded relationship with themselves. Now, I work with adults in Colorado and Arizona to quiet their inner critic, tune into their inner voice, and explore what it really means to live authentically.
I’m also a big believer in the mind–body connection, especially the nervous system and gut-brain link, and I love sharing approachable, science-backed ways people can support their well-being in everyday life.
This year, I launched Rootspace, a nationwide, 7-week self-trust program that offers weekly journal prompts, guided audio, handouts, and resources to help people strengthen self-trust one layer at a time. It’s a powerful, self-paced invitation to come home to yourself, and the feedback so far has been incredibly moving.
Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. Who were you before the world told you who you had to be?
That is such a powerful question, and one I’ve honestly been very intentional about gaining more clarity around for the past several years. It’s amazing, isn’t it? How detached we can get from our inner-wisdom, hopes, dreams – even likes and dislikes- because it can feel easier to “not rock the boat” or “be easy going”.
Reclaiming all of who I am, unapologetically, has been deeply healing. At my core, I’m a joyful person who feels most fulfilled when I can share my light, energy, and gifts with the world, helping others find their way home to themselves. I also thrive when I’m challenging myself, trying new things, and seeking out adventures. But perhaps most of all, I’ve learned that I’m happiest when I’m outdoors, exploring and connecting with nature. Nature helps me slow down, and I believe slowing down is a powerful part of healing. It creates space to truly hear and experience ourselves. Honoring that truth, and returning to it again and again, is something I’m always working on.
What fear has held you back the most in your life?
The fear of others’ opinions, judgments, or even hopes for me held me back for a long time. I care deeply about the people I’m close with, and for years I assumed it was my responsibility to make sure they were happy, even if that meant sidelining my own needs or dreams.
But something I’ve learned through my own healing, what I teach my clients, and what we focus on in my Rootspace program, is this: other people are allowed to have their own thoughts, opinions, and feelings about how we live our lives. That’s theirs to carry. What matters most is the way we feel when we wake up in the morning, the alignment we have with our own values, and the quiet knowing that we are living in integrity with ourselves. At the end of the day, we are the ones inhabiting our life, not anyone else, and our relationship with ourselves will shape our happiness and well-being more than anyone else’s approval ever could.
Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. What’s a belief you used to hold tightly but now think was naive or wrong?
I’m trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)—among other approaches—but for a long time, I believed that helping people understand their thoughts and patterns was the key to feeling mentally healthy. While I still deeply value the insights and tools CBT provides, I now take a much more holistic approach to mental health.
What I’ve come to understand is that the answers to feeling safe within ourselves and our lives aren’t often found through intellectualizing alone. Healing really begins in the body, by embodying our truths, understanding how our nervous system responds, and being willing to sit with ourselves in the hard moments with curiosity instead of judgment.
Today, I integrate somatic tools, trauma-informed practices, nervous system research, and awareness of the gut-brain connection into my work with clients to support healing on multiple levels. It’s a fuller, more compassionate way to help people reconnect deeply with themselves beyond just the thinking mind.
Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. Are you doing what you were born to do—or what you were told to do?
I’m incredibly grateful to say that I’m doing what I was born to do. I’ve always felt drawn to this path, a way to combine my fascination with the mind and my deep love of helping people into a meaningful career. This work brings me so much joy and truly fills my cup, which is something I never take for granted. It’s also become my compass, reminding me to prioritize my own self-care so I can keep showing up fully for others.
If you’re feeling called to explore your own relationship with yourself more deeply, whether through one-on-one counseling or a guided, self-paced journey, I invite you to connect. My counseling practice offers a safe, supportive space to heal and grow, and my nationwide Rootspace program provides weekly tools, reflections, and resources designed to help you build self-trust one step at a time—wherever you are in your healing journey.
