Jay Piper shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
Hi Jay, thank you for taking the time to reflect back on your journey with us. I think our readers are in for a real treat. There is so much we can all learn from each other and so thank you again for opening up with us. Let’s get into it: What is a normal day like for you right now?
A typical day for me starts early. I knock out my most important work at the office in the morning to set the tone for the day. After that, I head to the gym to get a solid workout in — it’s a great way to reset and re-energize. Then I make my way to our newly opened storefront, where I spend about 5–6 hours running the shop. While I’m there, I juggle client design work in between helping customers, which keeps things productive and dynamic. In the afternoon, I head home to spend quality time with my wife and daughter — we have dinner together and usually get some playtime in before my daughter’s bedtime. I wrap up the day relaxing with my wife, watching a movie or a show to unwind from the hustle. It’s a full day, but I enjoy the balance of business, creativity, fitness, and family.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Jay Piper, and I’m the proud owner of ParHopper Golf Apparel. While I run a design agency full-time, this spotlight is all about my side passion—ParHopper. We started ParHopper with a simple idea: golf apparel doesn’t have to be dull. Our mission is to elevate the game—not just in terms of performance, but in personality.
Our polos are designed to perform on the course and stand out while doing it. Every piece we create is bold, vibrant, and crafted to turn heads on the tee box. We’re not interested in blending in—we’re here to make a statement.
But we’re not just making polos—we’re giving them personality. Each design reflects a mood, a moment, or a mindset on the course. Whether you’re grinding to break par or just out to enjoy a few laughs with friends, there’s a ParHopper polo that speaks your language.
Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. What’s a moment that really shaped how you see the world?
For me, the biggest moment in my life has been the birth of my daughter and raising her over the past five years. Everything shifted after that. The way the world treats me isn’t my biggest concern anymore—it’s how the world will treat her.
I still work for myself, I still have goals and dreams, but now it’s all rooted in doing what’s best for my family. It’s not just about being a better artist or entrepreneur—it’s about building something that supports and inspires her.
Becoming a parent opened my eyes to how tough the world can be, and how hard it is to truly stand out these days. You have to start early, stay focused, and believe in what you’re doing. That’s why I make it a point to encourage my daughter to chase what she loves, even at this young age. If she sees me going after my passion, maybe she’ll feel empowered to go after hers too.
If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
If I could go back, I’d tell myself to trust my dreams and chase them sooner. I had the idea for this golf brand for a long time, but I kept putting it off. Honestly, I was lazy about doing the research and figuring out how to actually get a custom polo produced. In the beginning, it just felt overwhelming—not knowing where to start or how to bring the vision to life.
It took a major life shift—moving from Georgia to Colorado—and meeting my now business partner to finally push me to take the leap. I’ve been golfing my whole life and have a background in design, so ParHopper really brought those two passions together. I’d tried launching other brands in the past, but ParHopper was my first real attempt at creating something for the golf space. And now, it’s turned into something incredibly special.
Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. Is the public version of you the real you?
I do think I show my true self—what you see is what you get. I’m a fun, outgoing guy with a vibrant personality, and I think that really comes through in the designs we create for our polos. They’re bold, full of character, and meant to stand out.
I naturally connect with people. I’m a people person, and I make friends everywhere I go. That’s played a big role in building meaningful relationships and growing the ParHopper brand. At the end of the day, I believe authenticity builds trust, and trust builds lasting connections.
Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. Have you ever gotten what you wanted, and found it did not satisfy you?
That’s something I definitely wrestle with as a business owner. I’ve had a lot of success, and I’m proud of that—but I’m always chasing the next milestone. There’s this inside joke I share with a close friend: ‘I make all this money and I still ain’t happy.’ And it’s not about needing more money to feel fulfilled—it’s really about never being fully satisfied with where things are.
As an entrepreneur, the drive to keep growing never stops. I’m always looking at how we can level up—whether it’s through new designs, bigger collaborations, or expanding the brand’s reach. I think that mindset is what separates a startup from a truly established brand. It’s not just about launching something; it’s about evolving it constantly.
