Sanja Ganja of NYC on Life, Lessons & Legacy

Sanja Ganja shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Sanja, a huge thanks to you for investing the time to share your wisdom with those who are seeking it. We think it’s so important for us to share stories with our neighbors, friends and community because knowledge multiples when we share with each other. Let’s jump in: What are you most proud of building — that nobody sees?
The Ganja Gala has become a true celebration of community, culture, and compassion—but what many don’t see is the deeper purpose behind the party. Every Gala is rooted in intention. We ‘Party with Purpose’ by partnering with a nonprofit organization for each event, raising awareness and support for causes close to my heart. I’ve dedicated each Gala to a friend I’ve lost, and through that grief, I’ve found purpose. We’ve partnered with organizations like the Lupus Foundation and the Suicide Prevention Hotline to bring visibility to the silent battles people face. As we take the Ganja Gala to New York City in 2026, I’m more inspired than ever. The sky is not the limit—it’s just the beginning. My mission is to build a legacy grounded in joy, remembrance, and giving back to humanity.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Meet Sanja Ganja — Where Cannabis Culture Meets Conscious Conversation.
Through The Sanja Ganja Show, I invite you to get high and get real as we explore what it truly means to be human — all while sparking deep conversations, bold ideas, and a little laughter along the way.

From podcasts and vlogs to industry events and cultural commentary, my brand is a multidimensional experience built for the curious, the creative, and the consciously lifted. Think of it as your backstage pass to cannabis, culture, and connection — hosted by what some have called the 21st-century Marilyn Monroe of weed, with a twist of truth, trends, and a touch of glam.

Whether you’re tuning in for fact-based conspiracies on Spotify, catching cultural gems on YouTube or Instagram, or joining one of my events that blend art, advocacy, and cannabis — you’ll always leave inspired, entertained, and more aware.

This is SANJA LAND — a world built for the productive thinker who knows that the highest thoughts often come when you’re lifted.

Okay, so here’s a deep one: What was your earliest memory of feeling powerful?
My earliest memory of feeling powerful was as a child, standing with a microphone in my hand. I remember the rush of commanding a room — the way I could guide the energy, make people laugh, cheer, and lock eyes with me. It felt like magic, but it was mine.

My father always told me, “You’re a magnet. Walk into any room like you’re the star.” That stuck with me. From that moment on, I didn’t just perform — I entered spaces with presence, with purpose, and with the quiet knowing that I was meant to be seen and heard. That was the beginning of Sanja Ganja.

When did you last change your mind about something important?
I’ve recently gone all in on myself — and it’s the most powerful decision I’ve ever made. From my show to my merch, my brand to my mission, I’m no longer playing small. I’ve stepped fully into my vision with confidence and clarity like never before.

I’m making a big move to New Jersey and New York, expanding not just my presence but my purpose. Alongside my media work, I’m entering a new industry: high-end catering for weddings and luxury dinners — all with a cannabis-infused twist that ties everything back to the culture I’ve always championed.

The future? It’s not just bright — it’s epically lit. And I’m just getting started.

Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. What important truth do very few people agree with you on?
The most important truth I live by is this: be unapologetically authentic.
Yes, Sanja Ganja is a brand — a bold character and a creative force — but she’s not a mask. She’s a reflection of the power I carry within, the part of me that dares to shift perspectives and spark connection.

Whether I’m on stage as Sanja or at home as Sandra, I’m always the same woman: real, loyal, and deeply rooted in love for my village and my audience. Authenticity isn’t a costume I put on — it’s the core of everything I do.

Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. Have you ever gotten what you wanted, and found it did not satisfy you?
I got what I thought I wanted — and still wasn’t satisfied.
From budtender to boardroom, I climbed the ladder… only to realize the corporate structure isn’t built for someone like me. I don’t fit in a box — I build new rooms entirely.

I’ve found that when I’m creatively free, I don’t just thrive — I help others thrive too. The truth is, I make people more money when I’m trusted to do things my way. That’s where the real value lives.
