Story & Lesson Highlights with Kayla Crane of Castle Rock

We recently had the chance to connect with Kayla Crane and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Kayla, thank you so much for taking time out of your busy day to share your story, experiences and insights with our readers. Let’s jump right in with an interesting one: What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
I usually wake up and head straight to a workout. It’s my favorite way to clear my mind and boost my energy. After about an hour, I grab some water or coffee and sit down to check emails and messages. Then I review my client schedule for the day, look over any notes or prep work I need, and get mentally ready to support each person I’m meeting with.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi, I’m Kayla Crane, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and the founder of South Denver Therapy. We specialize in working with couples who want to improve communication, rebuild trust, or feel more connected in their relationship. What makes our practice unique is how down-to-earth and supportive we are. Therapy here feels like a safe, judgment-free space where real change can happen. Right now, we’re focused on hiring more amazing therapists to meet the growing demand and continue serving our community with the care and attention every client deserves.

Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. Who were you before the world told you who you had to be?
Before the world told me who I had to be, I was someone who just knew I wanted to help people feel understood and supported. I started out as an ABA therapist working with autistic kids, which taught me so much about patience, connection, and the importance of creating safe spaces. But deep down, I always felt drawn to relationship work. Supporting couples through tough seasons and helping them grow stronger together is what I ultimately wanted to do. It’s where I feel the most aligned and purposeful.

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Yes, absolutely. When I first started my practice, there were so many things I didn’t know, especially around running a business. The clinical side came naturally, but figuring out how to build a website, market myself, and get clients in the door felt overwhelming at times. I definitely had moments where I wondered if I was in over my head. Thankfully, my husband really stepped in and helped with the website and marketing side of things. His support made a huge difference and helped me stay focused on why I started this in the first place. I’m so glad I didn’t give up.

Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
My closest friends would probably say that what matters most to me is growth and healing. I care deeply about helping people become more self-aware and feel empowered in their lives. They also know how important my family is to me and how much I value finding balance between being present at home and making a meaningful impact through my work.

Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. If you retired tomorrow, what would your customers miss most?
If I retired tomorrow, I think my clients would miss feeling genuinely seen and understood. They’d probably say they’d miss the warmth, the nonjudgmental space, and the way I help them feel safe enough to be real. I think they’d also miss the balance I bring between deep compassion and practical, honest guidance.
