Hi Poet, thank you so much for joining us today. We’re thrilled to learn more about your journey, values and what you are currently working on. Let’s start with an ice breaker: When was the last time you felt true joy?
The last time I felt pure joy was the day my grandson was born!
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Poet, owner of Solstice Ink Collective in Denver, Colorado. With over 18 years of tattoo experience, I specialize in pushing the limits of color saturation, depth, and light-based effects—especially neon-inspired designs. I take pride in being able to cover any style while bringing my own creative edge to every piece. Whether it’s bold realism, surreal color work, or custom concepts, my goal is always to make tattoos that feel alive.
Solstice Ink Collective was recently voted Best Tattoo Studio in Lakewood CO, standing out from nearly 1,700 surrounding businesses. That recognition speaks to my dedication, the strength of my team, and the energy we put into every tattoo. This work isn’t just ink—it’s my life’s passion!
Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. What did you believe about yourself as a child that you no longer believe?
It’s kind of dark, but I’m sure many could relate, as a child I was taught I was never worthy of anything or worth anyone’s love. My friends and clients that I have built over the years have become a family and have taught me that was never true.
Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
After five years of my last studio, property taxes, operating expenses, and the crime rate forced me to close its doors to protect my health and family. Nearly a year later with the help of my best friend I have built a dream studio much better than I ever imagined with a safe space for everyone and a great team driven with the same goals!
Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. Is the public version of you the real you?
Not at all lol! I appear to be a big scary biker with RBF. From my head to my toes I’m covered in ink and appear very menacing. I often forget what I look like to the public, but I’m actually a big cuddly goofy nerd. You would really have to work hard to make me act the way my appearance is judged!
Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. What do you understand deeply that most people don’t?
Just how short our time on this planet really is. The biggest perk in my company is the freedom to enjoy your life whenever and as much as you can.
