We recently had the chance to connect with Marie Litton and have shared our conversation below.
Good morning Marie , we’re so happy to have you here with us and we’d love to explore your story and how you think about life and legacy and so much more. So let’s start with a question we often ask: What are you being called to do now, that you may have been afraid of before?
We are undergoing a huge transformative time in our current place in history. It is more important than ever to look inward and connect to our true authentic selves, and ask ourselves to look beyond the veil. To tap into our intuition for the answers instead of trying to find them outside ourselves. I feel called to inspire people through the power of art, music and truth, even if it’s uncomfortable at times. But with discomfort comes change and that change will set us free. In the past I spent so much time looking outwards but now I’m looking in.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Marie Litton and I run and operate the musical group Spyderland with my husband Drew McClellan. Spyderland is an indie-electronic duo with musical concepts for those who still believe in a passionate free world. Lately we’ve been focusing our efforts towards content creation, community growth and producing music and music videos with a strong message.
Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. What breaks the bonds between people—and what restores them?
A topic of great importance that I feel very called to speak on is the culture war. This manipulated culture war has been purposely implanted in our communities with social media, the news, movies, television, the education system, the music industry, the list goes on. It’s been designed to divide us and keep us separated. To keep us in a state of fear and hate. To keep us functioning in a low vibrational frequency. We need to come together and look past the programing and realize it’s not our neighbor that is the enemy and when we are truly united, we are strong. With love and understanding for each other we can accomplish greatness and make real changes that truly benefit humanity. By healing ourselves we can heal the broken society we are currently living in. The act of gratitude, love and understanding will become contagious and ripple through our communities.
Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
I’ve experienced many dark nights of the soul and I know there will be more to come. In those dark moments I’ve come close to saying “fuck it” I’m done! However, I’ve always had a deep knowing inside myself while I was experiencing these moments that these hardships are tests that I must pass. I must endure the pain and suffering to get to the other side. It’s all learning and growing. It’s a necessary passage of being human.
Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? Is the public version of you the real you?
I’ve never been good at disguising my true self, nor have I ever really cared to.
Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. Could you give everything your best, even if no one ever praised you for it?
I think it’s important to have recognition for your efforts from your community. Especially when your creating music and art. After all you are creating something that was meant for others to personally connect to and be inspired by. You must be in love with the process though, whether it’s recognized or not.
