Hi Toyin, thank you so much for joining us today. We’re thrilled to learn more about your journey, values and what you are currently working on. Let’s start with an ice breaker: What do you think is misunderstood about your business?
People think my clothing is for men but they are unisex.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
What’s up, family!
I’m Toyin, the owner of Be Original: Rejected By Man, Accepted By God! We’re a modern-day faith-based apparel company, and this brand was built straight from my testimony. I started in August in 2020.
I know what it’s like to be rejected, overlooked, pushed to the side, and underestimated. But instead of chasing validation from the people who rejected me, I ran to the One who created me. And God reminded me I’m not rejected, I’m accepted.
That’s when I started creating bold, faith-filled messages through fashion. Every design represents God’s love and His acceptance. I want people to know: True acceptance doesn’t come from man it comes from God.
This isn’t just clothing—it’s ministry. It’s healing. It’s purpose. So when you wear Be Original, you’re walking in your identity and reminding the world who you belong to.
Let’s go be bold, be faith-filled, and be original.
Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. What relationship most shaped how you see yourself?
My relationship with God has shaped me how I see myself. I’m fearfully & wonderfully made. Scriptures empower me & my faith gives me strength. Without god I am nothing. I couldn’t do anything with him.
Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Yes several. You have people who say they love you don’t like, comment nor share your post. People don’t recommend your business. They act like they don’t see you or treat me as if I don’t exist. They watch everything I do but don’t help. It’s hard doing everything all by yourself and having so many people coming up against you. But I just keep shoeing up for myself and make sure i get 1% better each day.
So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. Is the public version of you the real you?
Yes, I stand on being authentically you. This is truly who I am. Man looks at the outward appearance but God looks at the heart.
Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. What do you understand deeply that most people don’t?
That people will sabotage your business if they don’t like you. People will put so much energy into tearing you down verses building themselves up. People love to project their fears and belief on you. but its only a reflection of their lack and not of you. I’ve been able to stand firm on actions.
