Life, Values & Legacy: Our Chat with Nikole Stevenson of Loveland

Nikole Stevenson shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Hi Nikole, thank you for taking the time to reflect back on your journey with us. I think our readers are in for a real treat. There is so much we can all learn from each other and so thank you again for opening up with us. Let’s get into it: What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
Make a double cappucino, spend a few minutes in the backyard with my dog, give her a treat, and then get straight to work!

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I am a Colorado-licensed Transaction Coordinator, with my business, Broker Relief Transaction Management. I understand how much time real estate agents spend managing paperwork instead of focusing on clients and closings. Keeping up with disclosures, deadlines, and compliance can be overwhelming. With my expertise in transaction coordination, I handle the details and keep everything on track, so they can reclaim their time and focus on growing their business.

Once a real estate agent goes under contract with one of their clients, I handle the details:
-Transaction Coordination; Keeping all parties informed and everything on track for a smooth closing.
-Compliance Management; Ensuring all documents are in order.
-Deadline Tracking; Making sure we never miss an important date.

Being a TC utilizes all of my best skills; organization, time management, proofreading, and more. I excel at seeing a transaction through from contract to close, ensuring it goes as smoothly as possible.

My services are customizable, and as such I am able to provide an elevated service to my clients; which trickles down into an excellent service for THEIR clients! For example, my clients get to choose if their deadline reminders come to them the day-of the deadline, or the day-before. They can choose if they want the buyers/sellers included on these reminders, or only receive them themselves. They get to choose certain portions of the introduction emails that go out to their clients as well. My goal is to be a direct continuation of my clients’ individual styles, while maintaining a great reputation for all of us.

A unique thing about hiring a TC like me, is that my clients only have to pay per-transaction or add-on task. There are no salary overheads, which saves a lot of money for them during slower seasons; while still knowing they have a partner who has their back when things get busier.

One of the reasons I love my job is because I can work from anywhere! I love to travel, so you might catch me working from across the globe. Not to worry; I am committed to my transactions regardless of where I am!

Okay, so here’s a deep one: Who taught you the most about work?
My grandfather, grandmother, and my father all taught me different yet important aspects about work. My father taught me to have a great work ethic. As as a chef, he would tell me, “if you have time to lean, you have time to clean!” I still always think about that! My grandfather and grandmother both taught me the value of perseverance in work – as business owners, they never gave up, even when they faced immense challenges.

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
There have been dozens of times I almost gave up. Having your own business brings its own unique set of challenges, but STARTING that business is even more challenging. It can be hard to get momentum and get things going fast enough to sustain you.

Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. What are the biggest lies your industry tells itself?
The biggest lies my industry tells itself is that you cannot take time off. I truly believe we work to live, and while yes, work is part of our lives, it is not meant to be our entire lives. Many people refuse to take true time OFF – unplugged, on Do Not Disturb, no responding to emails, being totally unavailable. I don’t think this is sustainable in the long-term and will lead to burnout. I am committed to giving myself time off so that I do not burnout, and that I can deliver excellent service when I am “on”!

Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. What are you doing today that won’t pay off for 7–10 years?
Learning the greek language and starting the process to claim property left by my ancestors in Greece. It’s going to be a long journey!
