Dayna Orton of Longmont, Colorado on Life, Lessons & Legacy

We recently had the chance to connect with Dayna Orton and have shared our conversation below.

Dayna, we’re thrilled to have you with us today. Before we jump into your intro and the heart of the interview, let’s start with a bit of an ice breaker: What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
Motherhood throughout the years has brought me immense joy and a kaleidoscope of emotions that have enriched my life. As I evolve into my new role as a parent spectator, I am thrilled to witness my incredibly talented, artistic 18-year-old adult daughter spreading her wings, embracing her independence as a college freshman, and inspiring me to rediscover myself on this exciting new journey.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Dayna Orton, I’m the owner and practitioner of Blooming Massage and Longmont Spinal Flow. This year, I am a wife of 21 years, a mother of 18 years, and a massage therapist of 16 years, and most recently, a Certified Spinal Flow practitioner since January 2025. I have always felt that my calling was to help support people around me. I have committed myself to my business as a massage therapist which has taken a toll on my body physically, but I love it so much that I will be massaging until I can’t anymore. However, the reality is that as I get older, my ability to massage and support the community that I enjoy serving in the way I am accustomed to will also decline. I recently found a life raft, a new modality that I can utilize to continue helping and serving my clients without hindering my body but rather supporting it as I support others. It’s called the Spinal Flow Technique, a gentle, non-invasive modality that enriches my clients’ ability to reconnect with themselves in a powerful way, changing the course of their health and well-being. We focus on awakening their own life force energy, also known as ‘Qi’ or ‘Prana’, which is our own ability to heal from within. In a world where our bodies live in a range of fight, flight, freeze or fawn, our bodies have lost the ability to heal while we are awake due to fear. I help my clients feel safe in their bodies again and allow for chemical, physical, and emotional stressors that have accumulated overtime along their spine to finally be processed and released. When that occurs, symptoms that their body has become accustomed to fade away because we are addressing the root cause along the spine, allowing the nervous system to control the healthy function of virtually every cell, tissue, organ, and system in the body.

Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. What was your earliest memory of feeling powerful?
It’s profoundly uplifting that my earliest memory of feeling empowered was when I first left home and attended a 4-year university. I find myself, full circle, now living vicariously through my daughter’s eyes and feeling empowered once again. You are never too old to feel empowered and learn new tricks.

If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
I would say to my younger self that no matter how you may feel today, have faith that a brighter tomorrow awaits, and everything will ultimately work out.

Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? What important truth do very few people agree with you on?
Within each of us lies a sanctuary of peace, where we can live our lives daily with freedom from stress and fear; it’s not easy, but it’s profoundly possible. When fear isn’t a part of you, you will find things become easier, the people you attract uplift you rather than bring you down, and you drop old patterns that were formed due to trauma you’ve experienced. When you are healed, you are in charge of writing the reality you want and creating it, rather than one that was forced upon you.

Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. If immortality were real, what would you build?
I would live my life by showing up with kindness to every single person I meet. It is my hope that in my immortal life, I will encounter countless individuals who will pay it forward and be kind to another person they meet, so that one day, acts of kindness will have touched everyone.
