Story & Lesson Highlights with Michele Gwin

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Michele Gwin. Check out our conversation below.

Michele, a huge thanks to you for investing the time to share your wisdom with those who are seeking it. We think it’s so important for us to share stories with our neighbors, friends and community because knowledge multiples when we share with each other. Let’s jump in: Who are you learning from right now?
Right now, I’m learning from industry peers — especially experienced listing agents — and, just as importantly, from the market itself. In today’s real estate climate, selling homes isn’t “easy.” It requires strategy, awareness, and constant adjustment. I’m consistently studying active listings: tracking days on market, price changes, listing presentation, photo quality, and the strength of property descriptions. I also pay close attention to how complete a listing is and the background or track record of the agent behind it. Every detail tells a story, and every listing is an opportunity to learn what’s working — and what isn’t — in real time.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m Michele Gwin — President, Lead Listing Agent, Broker‑Associate, and REALTOR® with The Gwin Properties Team at RE/MAX Professionals. I lead our team in serving clients across the Denver Metro and Colorado Springs front‑range areas. ([gwinproperties.com](https://gwinproperties.com/about?utm_source=chatgpt.com))

My journey in real estate is grounded in a mix of experience and mentorship. Before founding the Gwin Properties Team in 2018, I worked both on another award‑winning team and independently, learning from some of the industry’s top professionals. Being Colorado‑native gives me a strong understanding of the local markets, their quirks, and what people really want here.

What makes The Gwin Properties Team unique is our concierge approach to real estate. From the very first conversation all the way past closing day, we aim to deliver service that’s not just good — but exceptional. I’m passionate about educating clients, helping them understand all their options, foreseeing potential pitfalls, mitigating risks, and making sure expectations are realistic. Whether you’re a first‑time buyer, a seller, an investor, or going through a transition like divorce or an estate sale, I want the process to be thoughtful, strategic, and personalized.

We’re constantly focused on growth and improvement — especially as the local market shifts. Whether we’re facing rising interest rates, increased market saturation, or changes in buyer behavior, we’re committed to staying true to our mission: to provide exceptional real estate experiences, no matter what factors are outside our control.

Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. What breaks the bonds between people—and what restores them?
Trust. At the core of every strong relationship — whether personal or professional — is trust. And trust, in my experience, is built through honesty. Not just the easy kind of honesty, but the kind that requires saying things people may not want to hear. In fact, I believe that kind of honesty strengthens credibility, and in turn, deepens trust.

In my work, setting clear expectations and consistently reinforcing them is how I maintain open, transparent communication. It helps clients and peers know exactly where we stand, what to expect, and how I operate. That foundation of clarity is what keeps trust intact — even when challenges arise. Trust can be broken when communication lacks transparency or when expectations go unmet. But it’s restored through consistency, accountability, and a willingness to be real — even when it’s hard.

What did suffering teach you that success never could?
I’ve learned more from failure and suffering than from any schooling, book, or teacher. Those tough moments — the ones that test your patience, your resilience, and your belief in yourself — have been my greatest educators.

Suffering strips away the illusion of control and exposes what really matters. It humbles you, sharpens your perspective, and forces you to grow in ways success simply can’t. While success can be rewarding, it often builds confidence. Suffering builds character.

Failure, in particular, is an essential part of experience — it’s the prequel to success. Without it, there’s no real understanding of what it takes to achieve meaningful goals or serve others well. The lessons I’ve gained through hardship have made me a better professional, a better leader, and a more grounded person.

Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. Is the public version of you the real you?
Yes — absolutely. I don’t believe in false representation, and honestly, I think it’s a complete waste of time. I have no interest in maintaining two versions of myself. Things are much simpler, more meaningful, and more sustainable when I stay authentic in everything I do and in who I am.

Whether I’m working with clients, collaborating with peers, or showing up in my personal life, what you see is what you get. I believe people can sense authenticity — and they respect it. Being real builds trust faster than any polished persona ever could.

Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. When do you feel most at peace?
I feel most at peace when I’m behind the wheel of my 1967 Mustang, windows down, cruising an open road that feels like it’s all mine. There’s something about the simplicity, the sound of the engine, and the freedom of that moment that quiets everything else.

I also find deep peace in sharing a meal with my adult children — those moments of connection, laughter, and conversation are grounding and meaningful. And honestly, few things bring more instant calm than curling up with my goldendoodles. It’s in those little, ordinary moments that I feel the most centered and content.
