Community Highlights: Meet Jordan Cox of Wellspring Home Services

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jordan Cox.

Hi Jordan, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
What is Wellspring?
Wellspring is more than a remodeling company — it’s a family built on trust, integrity, and long-term relationships. Our unique values influence the way we care for people, not just projects. We believe that doing excellent work in someone’s home also means building genuine connection and treating every customer as a neighbor.

Our Story
Wellspring was started by Brett Costigan in 2015 upon returning to Colorado after living in Kansas City for a while. Brett started as a handyman working alongside his son-in-law, Josh Funk, who went on to build a thriving remodeling business in Kansas City. As Wellspring grew, Zach joined Brett, and later invited me to come on board as well. What drew me in wasn’t just the work itself, but Brett’s deep faith, his love for Jesus Christ, and his remarkable way of caring for others.

For me, Wellspring quickly became more than a company — it became family. Over the years, all of us have become as closer as brothers, and the relationships we’ve built with coworkers and customers alike have shaped the heart of our business.

Training for Business
From the beginning, Brett’s vision was to train Zach and me for business ownership. His philosophy was rooted in “sonship” — the idea that as children of God we should seek to take responsibility and ownership long before it’s formally handed over. That mindset shaped how we approached Wellspring: not just as employees working for a paycheck, but as stewards working to build a business that we would take on.

A Defining Transition
In March 2024, Brett suffered a stroke that left him without feeling on his left side. It was a sobering moment for all of us, but Brett’s community rallied to support him. Over time, through God’s grace, Brett began to recover — regaining the ability to walk and use his arm again. However, he was not able to step back into the construction business.

During that season, Zach and I stepped up to lead Wellspring. We finished the projects before us, and began planning how we would adapt the company to the new circumstances. After a year of proving that Wellspring could thrive under our leadership, we bought the company from Brett.

Where We Are Today
Wellspring continues to grow, not because we’ve perfected systems or processes (we’re still learning a lot in this area), but because we’ve sought to build everything on love. We love Brett, which is why we took ownership of the business. We love each other as partners, committed to providing for our families together. And we love our customers — because when you spend weeks or months working in someone’s home, they become more than clients. They become friends, and caring for them is at the core of what we do.

Conclusion
At Wellspring, remodeling is not just a business — it’s a way to serve, to love, and to build lasting relationships. God willing, we will continue to be defined by this.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The biggest obstacle to-date was Brett’s stroke in 2024. Our company did not have clear processes at the time and was heavily owner-dependent, so it was difficult to figure out what had been communicated with clients and what projects had been planned already or were waiting to be planned.

Since then, we have implemented many new systems and processes that have helped tremendously. One of the first things we did was implement a CRM, which has helped us improve our sales and estimation process and pass-off to our project manager. We are constantly working to learn from our experience (especially our mistakes), improve our process, and find was to make our current workflows more efficient.

We’ve been impressed with Wellspring Home Services, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
We specialize in high-quality, full-service bathroom & kitchen remodels delivered directly to the customer, blending expert craftsmanship with a hospitality-driven experience. Our approach combines the precision of premier design and construction with the warmth, care, and attentiveness you’d expect from a five-star hotel — turning every remodel into a personalized, stress-free transformation.

The key thing that sets us apart from other contractors is our care for our customers. Many customers are wary of contractors because, unfortunately, there are a lot of bad apples there. It doesn’t take long to find someone who has a horror story of being burned by a contractor. We offer high-end remodels with high-end care. We want our customers to feel heard, safe, and taken care of during the entire remodel process.

Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
My business partner, Zach, and I have learned so much about business since we took over Wellspring just over a year ago. A book that was very helpful for me, that I would recommend to anyone starting a business of their own, is The E-Myth. Reading it helped me to see that I needed to approach business with the goal of building a business that is the product — complete with turn-key processes so that it can be run without the owner’s involvement. We are still in the grind of building a business that can be owner-independent, but having this mindset is crucial to keep from burning out.
