Today we’d like to introduce you to Christina Fick.
Hi Christina, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
As a high schooler, dealing with major health issues, I was forced to abandon my dreams of joining the military. I decided to pursue healthcare in the interim and loved the unique aspects that Chinese Medicine had to offer as it had helped me in my healing journey. One Master’s degree in Chinese Medicine turned into two, and a Doctorate in Integrative Medicine. After 15 years of clinical practice, I have seen how impactful integrative Eastern approaches and therapies can be when combined with Western modern science. My practice grew from one small room to two locations, six providers. I’ve opened a clean/quality supplement company, and my business now helps other acupuncture clinics bill insurance carriers that are otherwise difficult to manage as a solo provider. In my free time, I am going back to school for advanced functional medicine for complex testing and lifestyle management to help people heal from and prevent major medical conditions. Even though I never made it to serve my country, we also see many military veterans as a part of our community care program, as my way of giving back to those who gave for us. What was a sharp turn in my life, turned down a path with endless gifts along the way.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I don’t think anyone’s road to success is smooth. Mine has been a lot of learning as I go. I started my business when I was 24 years old with virtually no money or experience. I had no idea how to file taxes, or use electronic health records, or hire employees. I had to ask the right questions, learn from my mistakes, and adjust, and that has led to where I am today. I continue to get feedback from employees and patients, which further improves not only health outcomes, but also how smooth business practice is.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Evergreen Medical Acupuncture was originally established as a solo practitioner clinic in 2012 as Acupuncture by Christina Fick. Now, as a larger conglomerate, EMA has grown to six practitioners, multiple office staff, and two locations. EMA offers in-office services such as Medical Acupuncture for all types of medical conditions (headaches, body pain, digestive issues, stress management, insomnia, etc), Fertility Acupuncture (including other womens health conditions and labor induction), Pain Injections (natural compounds for people avoiding more harsh injections), cupping, medical massage, and Cosmetic Acupuncture (including microneedling for facial rejuvenation). We also offer telemedicine appointments virtually for Functional Medicine. EMA also has a sister company called Orvience, which is our own dietary supplement company where we offer clean, organic, certified supplements to our patients for a discounted rate to ensure that patients are taking the right supplements (and not too many of them) that come from reputable sources. We only hire Doctors of Acupuncture who have had a least another year of integrative medicine training. We are known for having some of the country’s most educated providers who excel at understanding western medicine pathologies and treating disease with more natural methods that are proven with time and science. EMA was also one of the first clinics to provide medical insurance billing for Medicare patients.
Do you any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
Playing soccer with my older sister and learning about team sports, health, and connection!
