Today we’d like to introduce you to Snigdha Prajapati.
Snigdha, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Life has a funny way of reminding us who’s in charge. Growing up, I lived the classic Indian dream of wanting to be a doctor. I was so set on that path that I never explored anything else. But over time, I realized that the dream I had been holding onto for years may not have been my true calling.
While pursuing my Bachelor of Science in Psychology at the University of Texas at Dallas, I unexpectedly fell in love with cooking. The kitchen became my escape, my passion, my creative outlet. Slowly, baking took over. It gave me the freedom to experiment, to create something entirely new. That’s when I realized something had shifted—I no longer wanted to be a doctor.
After graduating, I toyed with the idea of opening my own bakery, but fear and self-doubt crept in. On top of that, I was preparing for marriage. I nearly dropped the idea altogether—until my husband encouraged me to chase my dream. He became my biggest supporter, giving me the confidence and space to focus on my passion. And that’s how Bake Galore was born.
The first few years were tough. Orders were slow, and there were moments I questioned if running a home bakery was really for me. But with patience, persistence, and support, things began to grow. Then came another big leap: moving to Denver. Starting over felt daunting, but to my surprise, within a month of officially registering my business, orders began pouring in. Today, Bake Galore is one of the most searched bakeries in the area—a dream come true.
Bake Galore has just found its wings. I know there’s a long way to go, but I’ve learned that while big dreams take time, it’s the small wins along the way that bring the most joy. I can’t wait to see all the beautiful adventures this little bakery will bring, now and in the years to come.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
When you choose to do something out of the ordinary, it’s rarely a smooth road. Obstacles find their way to you whether you’re just starting out or already established. But as they say, pressure is what makes you shine brighter.
For me, one of the biggest challenges wasn’t just getting clients and orders—it was figuring out what I wanted Bake Galore to stand for. After a lot of reflection, I found my answer: gourmet desserts. Cakes, tarts, cheesecakes, breads—you name it, but with a refined, gourmet touch. From presentation to packaging, every detail had to feel elevated.
The next challenge was teaching myself everything I needed to know. I never went to pastry or culinary school—I’m entirely self-taught. It took months of practice, trial and error, and endless hours in the kitchen to perfect each skill before confidently adding an item to the menu.
Another defining decision was committing to fresh cream. All Bake Galore cakes are made with fresh cream only—never buttercream, never fondant. This meant finding a completely different client base and, at times, even turning down orders. It wasn’t easy to say no when orders were scarce, but I was determined to stay true to my vision and let time prove its worth.
Because Bake Galore is about more than just desserts—it’s about creating a high-end, personalized experience. There’s no extensive set menu. Seasons and festivals inspire new items, and often clients and I collaborate to bring their dream desserts to life. Of course, that comes with challenges—sometimes things don’t work out, and I’ve had to learn to accept that not every order is meant to be.
Most recently, I faced a very personal challenge. I welcomed my baby girl in January, which meant pressing pause for my health and hers. The hardest part wasn’t stepping away—it was coming back. Life with a newborn is anything but easy, yet I knew I had to return to Bake Galore and my customers. With patience, persistence, and a little bit of marketing, I’ve been able to get back into full swing—this time with a tiny “su baker” cheering me on.

Are there any books, apps, podcasts or blogs that help you do your best?
It may seem unusual, but one app that keeps me motivated is Instagram. I spend countless hours on the app because there’s so much to learn from it. Professional chefs share invaluable advice, recipes, and updates on the latest trends, which keeps me informed and inspired as a home baker. This platform helps me continuously update my skills, discover new techniques, and create recipes that leave my clients more amazed than ever.
A book that continually reminds me of my potential is Women Who Run with the Wolves by Clarissa Pinkola Estés. It’s a powerful reminder of the strength, resilience, and limitless potential of women. Each story within the book reignites my confidence and helps me stay grounded, reminding me of everything I’m capable of. One story is enough to refuel my spirit and get me back on track when I need it most.
