Today we’d like to introduce you to Jaimie Kurzinger.
Hi Jaimie, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I’ve had the joy of working with newborns for the past 10 years, but my journey into the birth world began about 5 years ago when I welcomed my first son. That experience really opened my eyes to how much support and information mothers truly need and deserve during pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. I felt a deep pull to learn more, so I began studying, connecting within the birth community, and gathering all the wisdom I could. About 3 years ago, I followed that calling and launched my business. Since then, it’s been such an honor to walk alongside women in every stage of motherhood, offering the support I once longed for myself.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Starting a new business is never without its challenges — but neither is motherhood! Along the way, I’ve faced obstacles while learning how to balance being both a business owner and following what I truly feel is my calling. One of the biggest lessons for me has been recognizing when to draw clear boundaries between being a friend and being a professional, while still holding space with compassion and care.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m a holistic doula, placenta encapsulation specialist, and childbirth educator. I specialize in walking alongside women and families through pregnancy, birth, and postpartum with a blend of practical knowledge and nurturing support. My heart is in creating a safe, Christ-centered space where mothers feel seen, heard, and truly cared for in all aspects—body, mind, and spirit.
What I’m most proud of is the way I’m able to meet women right where they are. Whether it’s their first baby or their fourth, I honor each journey as unique and sacred. I think what sets me apart is the combination of my personal experience as a mother and my years of work with newborns, which gives me both empathy and expertise. Families know me for bringing both warmth and wisdom into their birth space, and for holding their hands not just through birth, but into the tender, transforming days of motherhood.
What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
My city is home—it’s where I grew up and all I’ve ever known, so being rooted here feels really special. Knowing my way around and being part of this community my whole life gives me a deep sense of belonging. At the same time, I’ve noticed that our community is really lacking in genuine connection among mothers, and that’s something I feel called to help rebuild through my work.
