Hi Kiara , thank you so much for joining us today. We’re thrilled to learn more about your journey, values and what you are currently working on. Let’s start with an ice breaker: Have any recent moments made you laugh or feel proud?
Hello, to all my dear friends at Voyage! As always, thank you so much for taking the time out to speak with me!
I have been so overjoyed this past month celebrating my bridal brand Isn’t She Lovely Bridal Boutique was featured in New York Fashion Week September 12th & the 13th!
This moment is particularly special because ISLBB is the first bridal shop and black owned shop to ever do so in Colorado!
This moment I couldn’t be more proud of and I’m glad Voyage is the first magazine we get to share this joy with!
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Isn’t She Lovely Bridal Boutique founded and created by Kiara Massey is a custom formal wear online shop they specializes in customized wedding dresses, bridesmaids dresses, evening dresses, birthday dresses and more! We also customize men suits and tuxedos.
Although we are produced 100% online only we have a 99% perfect fit rate on dress orders and 100% perfect fit rate. Our prices are affordable offering payment plans tailored to each customer and our quality is designer.
We pride ourselves on being in business for almost a decade and still growing! Our new upgraded website that will be an easier and more convenient ordering process for customers is set to launch 2026!
Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. What’s a moment that really shaped how you see the world?
A moment that helps me shape how I see the world is when I started my own wedding dress shopping for my own wedding back in 2016. Seeing how expensive the gowns were made me feel really discouraged and undeserving. It made me feel “less than” I quickly was uninterested in shopping out at local boutiques because of how expensive and limited every store was. Lack of opinions and very expensive.
From that moment on I knew there had to be a better way! I knew I wasn’t the only bride to be who felt this way and from that moment on I begin to birth Isn’t She Lovely Bridal Boutique!
I haven’t looked at the world and business the same since! I knew my heart would not let me create something that feels like I’m robbing customers for my own gain or greed.
Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Getting divorced in 2024 almost made me call my business quits. I was embarrassed to say the least. “How can I own a bridal shop and I’m not even married?” Was my defeated mindset. Not only that, my old Facebook business page got hacked with almost 3k followers. I kept getting inquires even though I had stopped promoting. I knew at that point I couldn’t stop! I had something special that really helps not only my local community, but customers looking to save money worldwide!
I made another business page and kept going, kept promoting which lead me to more abundance of being featured in NYFW 2025!
Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? What are the biggest lies your industry tells itself?
The biggest lie the bridal industry tells itself and its customers is that your wedding dress MUST be expensive.
Isn’t She Lovely Bridal Boutique is the black sheep of the bridal gown industry because we broke the stereotype that if your dress is inexpensive, your gown will also look plain and cheap material! We also break barriers on the notion that you have to buy what you see and you can’t customize or be nontraditional! We don’t only make traditional white gowns, we allow our brides to be as unique and creative as they want! Mentioning again, at a low competitive price!
Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: If you knew you had 10 years left, what would you stop doing immediately?
This is a great question. It makes me get emotional actually thinking of this question but if I only had 10 years left I would NEVER doubt myself or what I have built again and would go even harder! Answering this makes me realize I have to much more to do. And without fear!
