Lilith Diringer shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
Lilith, so good to connect and we’re excited to share your story and insights with our audience. There’s a ton to learn from your story, but let’s start with a warm up before we get into the heart of the interview. What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
Torturing me with straps (a circus discipline).
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi, I’m Lilith, founder of ChargeHorizons—the first crowdsourcing platform for socially and ecologically sustainable travel. With our free App ChargeHolidays we help people travel with impact by guiding them from the very first idea of a trip through booking, the journey itself, and long after they return home. Our signature Sustainability Dreamcatcher turns today’s label jungle into a clear, seven-category view, so travelers can compare accommodations based on what matters to them and are not tricked by greenwashing. On the road, our app blends CO₂ tracking, practical tips, and gamified challenges that make learning and contributing fun. Guests share authentic, needs-based feedback and that community knowledge nudges hotels to implement real changes. Unlike classic booking sites, we combine transparency + community + self-efficacy—so travelers feel empowered- no matter if on the road for work or leisure – and hosts improve faster. In short: we make sustainable travel attractive, comparable, and actionable—and turn travelers into changemakers.
From my own touring experience as a singer and performing artist, the thrill of performing was constrained by a constant awareness that conventional travel props up a socially and ecologically harmful system – the travel sector currently contributes to 11 % of global CO2 emissions and is far from being inclusive or healthy for employees. I turned that tension into purpose: developing a digital app, an online blog, coaching, and educational programs that enable real impact and invite others to join.
Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. What was your earliest memory of feeling powerful?
Being in an accommodation and starting a nice discussion with one of the staff members. Just by asking questions such as: where does your food come from or: are you using renewable energy sources, I shed light on a topic often overlooked and gave the staff some inspiring ideas. Another moment where I felt powerful was when I looked out for aspects such as light bells or sink height for reporting whether an accommodation was suitable for people with hearing / mobility impairment. It was great to see how I can enable somebody to have an enjoyable trip just by spending some minutes observing.
If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
It sounds cheesy, but: follow your dreams – you’ll never know where they will take you.
I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. What are the biggest lies your industry tells itself?
To become sustainable doesn’t work or is uneconomical. In fact, there are so many accommodations with great sustainable management which are working fine and are economically profitable.
Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. If you retired tomorrow, what would your customers miss most?
My passion for the sector and my inspiration to have fun while doing something that brings a positive impact in the world.
