Travis LeRoy of Denver-Metro on Life, Lessons & Legacy

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Travis LeRoy. Check out our conversation below.

Hi Travis, thank you so much for taking time out of your busy day to share your story, experiences and insights with our readers. Let’s jump right in with an interesting one: What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
My wife and I are passionate about dog rescue. Over the years, we’ve welcomed many pups into our home, each with their own story. Some of them are heartbreaking. Right now, we have three: Puffin, Panda, and Pillow (picture attached). Watching them thrive is incredibly rewarding. It fills our home with love and a lot of tail wags.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’ve been in the music industry since I was 15. Over the years, I’ve played in and formed several bands. My current project is called That Eighties Band. It’s an 80’s tribute group I founded in 2001. We are based in Denver and perform up to 100 shows a year across the USA. I’m grateful to work alongside such talented musicians, and proud of the reputation we’ve built together.

Okay, so here’s a deep one: Who taught you the most about work?
My parents. They came from humble beginnings and built successful careers through grit, discipline, and dedication. They taught me the value of showing up consistently and pushing through challenges with integrity. Their example shaped how I approach every aspect of my work.

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Yes. When I first started envisioning That Eighties Band, some people told me it wasn’t a viable concept. They pushed me toward forming a more traditional group, something safer. In the beginning, there wasn’t much interest in our shows, and we had a hard time getting booked. It felt like I was swimming upstream. I considered walking away, but I believed in the idea too much. I’m glad I stuck with it. That Eighties Band has become the most satisfying and successful project of my career.

Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
Faith, family, pets, and music.

Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. Are you doing what you were born to do—or what you were told to do?
This is an insightful question. I believe I’m doing what I was born to do. I’m grateful for that. If I could offer one piece of career advice to someone starting out, it would be this: find what lights you up and pursue it with everything you’ve got. It’s not always easy, but if you bring your talent, and are willing to put in the work, you’ve got a real shot at building something meaningful. That’s the path I chose, and it’s the one I hope every entrepreneur gets to walk.
