Meet Jenny Webb of Your Voice, IEP and 504 Advocate

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jenny Webb.

Hi Jenny, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
In my second year at university, I discovered a passion for supporting people with disabilities, which led me to pursue a degree in special education. After graduation, I worked for several years as a special education teacher before becoming a stay-at-home parent when I had my first of three children. As it turned out, two of my children have disabilities that require the support of an IEP. This has given me a unique perspective by allowing me to understand both sides of the table, as an educator and as a parent.

After a few years at home, I was eager to return to education and took on a district-level role focused on social emotional learning. In that position, I had the opportunity to work with both students and staff in meaningful new ways. However, I also began to notice significant gaps in support for families. That realization led me to make the decision to leave public education and start my own advocacy business. I’m now in my second year of advocacy work and absolutely love the opportunity to educate, support, and share resources with families.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Starting my own business has come with countless learning opportunities—bookkeeping, marketing, website creation, and more. There were times I felt in over my head, but each challenge taught me something new. Step by step, I built the foundation that allows me to do what I love most: supporting families of kids with disabilities

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I offer a range of advocacy services designed to support families in navigating the special education process. I always begin with a free consultation, in which there is a focused discussion to address a student’s needs and determine the best course of action for advocating with the school. During this time, we work to clarify concerns, strategize requests, and establish clear and effective communication. I also provide record reviews, carefully examining a student’s educational records to evaluate current supports, progress, and needs while identifying any gaps, inconsistencies, or areas for improvement. From there, I offer meeting preparation and participation, which includes pre-planning with the family and virtual attendance at 504 or IEP meetings to ensure the student’s needs are thoroughly addressed.
It’s important to me that my work is accessible to everyone so I offer a sliding scale rate and can help out with a short time frame.

What was your favorite childhood memory?
One of my best memories from childhood is when my grandma, her sister, and all of their granddaughters would get together for a girl party. We would play dress up, make her special cookies, and laugh all night long.
