Hi Stephanie , thank you for taking the time to reflect back on your journey with us. I think our readers are in for a real treat. There is so much we can all learn from each other and so thank you again for opening up with us. Let’s get into it: What’s more important to you—intelligence, energy, or integrity?
For me, integrity comes first. In a world where people often take shortcuts or misrepresent what isn’t theirs, I focus on being authentic, respectful, and mindful in everything I do. I aim to honor the wisdom and experiences of others while showing up in ways that are ethical, thoughtful, and deeply caring, always guided by honesty and respect.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Stephanie Domingue is a doula, postpartum mentor, and holistic birth advocate dedicated to supporting women through pregnancy, birth, and the sacred postpartum period. She blends deep experiential knowledge with cultural literacy, ethical practice, and a commitment to integrity, helping families feel seen, nurtured, and empowered. Stephanie’s work honors the wisdom of traditional practices while offering practical, body-centered, and deeply caring support tailored to each individual. Beyond birth work, she brings the same dedication to honesty, respect, and mindful presence into everyday life.
Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. Who taught you the most about work?
I learned some of my most profound lessons about work, patience, and care from sitting with my mother in the barnyard, quietly witnessing new life born into the world. As a farmer, sitting with animals birthing taught me the power of presence, trust, and instinct, the same qualities I bring to supporting women and families through pregnancy, birth, and postpartum.
If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
Never stop writing love letters to your people, send them in the mail.
Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. What are the biggest lies your industry tells itself?
One of the biggest lies in the birth world is that there’s only one ‘right’ way to give birth. This rigid thinking creates fear, shame, and disempowerment, instead of honoring the wide spectrum of bodies, experiences, and choices. Bias-aware doulas play a crucial role in breaking through this dogma, offering nonjudgmental support, deep listening, and guidance that is compassionate, informed, and tailored to each family’s unique journey. The ability to navigate nuance is essential.
Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. Are you doing what you were born to do—or what you were told to do?
I believe we are each called to remember the difference between what we were born to do and what we were told to do. Life is about creating space for that remembering, to reconnect with our instincts, our autonomy, and our power. We are always changing and evolving, and so the answer to who we are meant to be and what we are meant to do changes with us.
