Exploring Life & Business with Becky Thompson of Faded Barbershop

Today we’d like to introduce you to Becky Thompson.

Hi Becky, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
After working for a locally owned chain barbershop I decided to leave and go out on my own. I started my business in a salon suite and grew on my own for four years when I realized it was time to level up again an move into a larger space and hire employees. I have now been at my current location for three and a half years and employ 7 people.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It hasn’t been an easy process and the road has been rocky at times for sure, between managing my business through covid times and then moving into a new space and managing remodeling there were plenty of times that I questioned my choices but there is no “sinking” in the Thompson household vocabulary, there is only “swimming” so Ive gotten really good at learning as you go and have persevered when some would have given up and thrown in the towel.

We’ve been impressed with Faded Barbershop, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
We are a full service barbershop offering cuts, color, facial waxing and face shaves for everyone!
We are very proud to have a wide variety of clients from all walks of life and hold customer service as a top priority in our shop. We want everyone to feel comfortable and happy when they leave.

It makes me so happy when we get compliments on how awesome my staff is and how much our clients enjoy their time with them. Ive worked very hard to find the right staff to reflect my brand and same level of customer care that I have always strove to provide on a daily basis.

Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
To go with the flow! Accept and manage the bumps in the road when they come and remember that tomorrow is going to be a new day with its own wins and loses. And to take a day off for myself every now and then!
