Today we’d like to introduce you to Laura Favila.
Hi Laura, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Lala Beauty Bar started about six years ago when I decided to step away from the 9-to-5 life in corporate America. I was craving something more creative, something that gave me freedom and purpose. I wanted to start a family, but it was important to me to be present and raise my child myself rather than sending her to child care while I was working. That’s one of the main reasons I started my own business…to have the flexibility to create a schedule that works for my family and allows me to balance my life at home. I’ve always loved helping women feel beautiful and confident, so getting into the lash and brow industry just felt right. What started as a dream to create my own schedule and do something I genuinely loved has grown into a space where women can come, feel comfortable, and leave glowing inside and out.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
One of the biggest struggles I faced early on was building a consistent clientele. It took time, patience, and a lot of trial and error to really find my rhythm. When I had my daughter, things became even more challenging. I didn’t take a full maternity leave because I was worried about losing clients I had worked so hard to build. I ended up going back to work just six weeks after giving birth, which was tough—but it reminded me how passionate I am about what I do and how much I care about the women who trust me with their beauty routines.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
About a year ago, I took a leap and decided to go fully on my own with Lala Beauty Bar. I also brought my sister Shastity on board to offer spray tans…she’s truly an artist and does an amazing job. Together, we’ve built a space that specializes in lashes, brows, and spray tans. What really sets us apart is that we’ve become a one-stop shop where clients can come in, relax, and leave feeling completely refreshed and confident—from their lashes and brows to their glow.
We’d love to hear about how you think about risk taking?
My view on risk-taking is that you always have to go for it—you’ll never know what’s possible unless you try. Starting my own business was definitely a risk, especially since I had no clientele when I first began. But taking that leap was worth it. Now, I’m proud to say I’m almost completely booked. Eventually, I plan to open a lash• brow• spray tan salon, which will be my biggest risk yet, but I’ve learned that every great thing I’ve built has come from stepping out of my comfort zone.
