Karrie Pittman of Monument, CO on Life, Lessons & Legacy

We recently had the chance to connect with Karrie Pittman and have shared our conversation below.

Karrie, so good to connect and we’re excited to share your story and insights with our audience. There’s a ton to learn from your story, but let’s start with a warm up before we get into the heart of the interview. What are you being called to do now, that you may have been afraid of before?
I’m stepping more fully into the off page SEO and social media side of brand awareness, the part that helps small businesses actually get seen once their brand foundation is built.

For a long time, I hesitated to go deeper into that space. There are a lot of big companies that have over promised, over charged, and under delivered, leaving small business owners feeling frustrated and taken advantage of. It’s made many people skeptical of anything tied to digital visibility.

What I’m doing now is stepping in to rebuild that trust. To show that strategy and integrity can live in the same space. My goal is to make these tools approachable again and help businesses grow with clarity, not confusion.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m Karrie Pittman, founder of KarrieBelle Designs, a full service branding and creative strategy studio based in Colorado. I help businesses rise with clarity, confidence, and intention through purposeful brand development, visual identity, and digital strategy.

Stepping further into the digital space has been the natural progression of brand development for me. Once a business has a solid foundation and clear story, the next step is to make sure that story is seen and understood online.

Right now, I’m focused on helping businesses understand that they can strengthen their brand through clear messaging, visuals that tell their story, and the off page SEO and social media that continue where their website stops. It’s about connection, trust, and giving small businesses the tools to stand out with purpose.

Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. Who taught you the most about work?
I’ve always been a workhorse, and I know exactly where that comes from. My grandparents were successful small business owners here in Colorado Springs, and my mom worked for them too. I grew up watching them show up every day, figuring things out as they went, always focused on what the next best step was.

Later, I worked for an old school small business owner who drilled one phrase into our heads: if you’ve got time to lean, you’ve got time to clean. It stuck. That mindset shaped how I work to this day. There’s always something you can be doing to move the needle, improve a process, or build momentum.

That mix of hard work, adaptability, and resourcefulness has stayed with me through every chapter of my career. It’s not about staying busy, it’s about staying committed to progress.

What fear has held you back the most in your life?
The fear that has held me back the most is imposter syndrome. It’s something that shows up for so many women business owners, and I’m no exception. No matter how much experience or success you have, there are moments when that little voice creeps in and makes you question if you’re really qualified to do what you’re doing.

Over the years, I’ve learned that quieting that doubt starts with remembering where your gifts come from. You have God given talents that were meant to help people, to make a difference, and to serve in ways that only you can. When you lean into that truth, you start to see that the fear was never protecting you, it was just keeping you small.

I still have moments of doubt, but I’ve learned to move through them with faith, purpose, and trust in the work I’ve been called to do.

So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. What are the biggest lies your industry tells itself?
One of the biggest lies my industry tells itself is that technology can replace creativity. Canva cannot take the place of Adobe, and AI cannot build your logo. Canva (and AI) is a great starting point for ideas, but long term it can’t provide the vector files needed to build a strong, scalable brand. Turning text to shape in Adobe or another professional design program will always give you cleaner, sharper print results. That’s the difference between something that looks good online and something that holds up everywhere your brand needs to show up.

Another lie is that AI can build your brand for you. It can’t. AI can help you push your brand out, create content faster, and refine ideas, but you still have to train it. You have to know your voice, your values, and your story. That’s what makes a brand real.

Then there’s the myth that digital marketing has to cost thousands of dollars a month. It doesn’t, and it shouldn’t. And despite what people say, social media isn’t going anywhere. Neither are creatives. AI isn’t taking over the branding industry anytime soon, because it still can’t generate the file types or the human connection needed for a truly professional brand.

Creativity still matters. Strategy still matters. And people still matter most.

Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. When do you feel most at peace?
I feel most at peace in two very different but equally grounding moments. Early mornings, when the world is still waking up, I love sitting with a hot cup of coffee and spending time in the scriptures as the sun rises. There’s something about that quiet light that centers me and helps me start the day with clarity and gratitude.

Then there are summer afternoons after a full day of working in the yard. When it finally starts to cool down, and I can sit and watch the birds while taking in everything that’s grown, that peace feels almost tangible. You see the results of your effort, the rhythm of nature, and for a moment, the world feels still. Those are the times I feel closest to God and most content.
