An Inspired Chat with Emily Ross & Sierra Gatrell

Emily Ross & Sierra Gatrell shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Emily Ross & Sierra Gatrell, we’re thrilled to have you with us today. Before we jump into your intro and the heart of the interview, let’s start with a bit of an ice breaker: What are you most proud of building — that nobody sees?
We are very proud of our Campaign Keeper journal series. Most of our journals are all player-facing for TTRPGs to help them keep track of everything in their campaigns. We just released our Game Master edition that expands the journal to GMs of any TTRPG to help them build and expand upon the world and plot of their campaign. We put a lot of work and effort into these journals and we are so proud of how they turned out.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
We’re Rosemary PG Studios — an online entertainment studio with a focus on clean fantasy storytelling. What truly sets us apart is our commitment to producing content that’s free from cursing, sexual content, and hard drug abuse. We believe you don’t have to compromise on depth or style to create something that’s family-friendly, meaningful, and imaginative.

Our motto is “Spark a Smile, Make a Memory,” and it’s at the heart of everything we do. From original shorts to interactive D&D campaigns, our goal is to transport audiences into beautifully crafted worlds that inspire wonder, connection, and joy.

Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. Who were you before the world told you who you had to be?
Before the world told us who to be, we were the kids building castles out of cardboard, turning shadows into monsters, and pretending the backyard was a portal to somewhere far more magical. We believed in stories, in characters who overcame impossible odds, and in worlds where wonder was a given — not something to be earned.

As we grew up, the world told us to be practical — and we listened. But we also chose not to let go of that spark. At Rosemary PG Studios, we live in the balance between realism and imagination. Our fantasy worlds are grounded enough to feel real, but still wide-eyed enough to make you believe in magic again. We see storytelling as a bridge — a place where childlike wonder meets thoughtful design, and where you can be both practical and enchanted.

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Absolutely. One of our toughest moments came when we released the first edition of the Campaign Keeper. As young business owners, passionate and full of ambition, we took a big financial leap to produce and print the books. But we made mistakes — with the product, the marketing, the rollout — and the sales just didn’t follow. We ended up losing more than we expected, and it hit hard.

It was one of those moments where giving up felt like the easy way out. But instead, we treated it as a turning point. We took a hard look at what went wrong, listened to our audience, improved the product, and rethought our approach to how we connected with our community. That experience made us sharper, more grounded, and more determined. It made us better creators.

So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. What’s a belief or project you’re committed to, no matter how long it takes?
One project we’re deeply committed to — no matter how long it takes — is our original audio drama, Chosen One. It’s a story we started writing back in 2022, centered on two cousins, Rosita and Jake Rabbitfoot, navigating a world where evil is rising and all the heroes are gone. It asks the question: What happens when the Chosen Ones disappear? And can ordinary people still rise to meet extraordinary challenges?

We recorded the series at the end of 2022, and we’ve been editing and refining it ever since. It’s been a long journey — one filled with creative challenges, growth, and learning curves — but we’ve never lost faith in the story. We believe in its heart, in its message, and in the joy it can bring to listeners. Chosen One is more than just a project — it’s a promise to ourselves to finish what we started, and to tell stories that matter, even if they take time.

Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. Could you give everything your best, even if no one ever praised you for it?
Absolutely — and we have. In the early days of Rosemary PG Studios, we’d stream to an audience of one. Sometimes, no one showed up at all. But we still brought our best. We played, we told stories, we laughed, and we poured our hearts into the moment — not because of the numbers, but because of the joy it brought us and the chance to create something meaningful.

Our mission has always been to spark a smile and make a memory — whether that’s for a thousand people or just one. Even if the only memory we’re making is for ourselves, that’s still worth everything. We believe in showing up with heart, in storytelling with care, and in giving our all — praise or no praise — because creating joy is its own kind of reward.
