Story & Lesson Highlights with Amanda Sharp of Monument, Colorado

Amanda Sharp shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Amanda, we’re thrilled to have you with us today. Before we jump into your intro and the heart of the interview, let’s start with a bit of an ice breaker: What do you think others are secretly struggling with—but never say?
I believe most people are struggling with SHAME. I have sat in personal development seminars for almost 20 years and this is the common theme. Shame is keeping us from our potential, it is choosing our mate, job and all things that affect our daily lives. Shame is our confidence level and it is the underlying river that flows into every thing you do or try to do.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I am an author, pod-caster and photographer/copywriter for a Personal Development Company. I am immersed daily in the idea of getting the tools that can help you heal and therefore be the best YOU there is to offer your family and the world. “You see the world as YOU are, not as it is.” When you figure out why you were put on this earth, what your gifts and purpose are, then you will be aligned with everything else.

Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. What did you believe about yourself as a child that you no longer believe?
I believe that we all have “crappy core beliefs” and those have run our lives since a young age. My personal ones I have located thus far are “I’m not worth knowing” “I’m not worth sticking around or fighting for” and “I’m only worthy of love if I’m valuable. All of these false beliefs I have believed for a long time and they chose most, if not all of the situations and circumstances I have experienced. Now that I have done the work to choose a healthy core belief, I now attract incredible things and give back from a much more loving and compassionate place.

If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
Those “crappy core beliefs” are false and you need to replace them with a truth so that you are not letting them run all of your decisions in the future. Your whole life will change drastically. Amanda, you are deeply loved and valued.

Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. Is the public version of you the real you?
Even with an incredibly witty sense of humor, I am also a deeply committed Christ follower. Not religion, rules and judgment, but a relationship. I show up on my social media from a stance of “we are all hypocrites” so let’s focus on getting the tools to heal, grow and overflow into others. If I can learn how to love myself fully and completely out loud, then maybe someone else will take themselves on. Peace in the world is unattainable until every human is at peace within themselves. You can not give what you don’t have yourself.

Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. What do you understand deeply that most people don’t?
That we are exactly where we are at because of all the choices we have made. Until we really own and look at that, we won’t be able to move out of blame of others and circumstances. I am exactly here today because of all of my choices. When you own that, you will be empowered to choose today what you desire.
