Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi! I’m Crystal Garcia, the owner of Lashes and Lashes — a beauty studio based in the Denver–Littleton area. I’ve been a licensed esthetician and lash artist for over seven years, and I’ve built my brand around one simple belief: beautiful lashes should never come at the expense of your natural lash health.
My studio is all about combining artistry and education. I specialize in creating custom lash looks that enhance your natural beauty while focusing on retention and lash health — so my clients leave feeling confident and cared for. Over the past few years, I’ve also started mentoring and training other lash artists, helping them master their craft and grow their businesses with integrity.
What makes Lashes and Lashes unique is the personal touch behind everything — from my signature hybrid sets to my cozy, feminine studio space that feels like a safe haven for self-care. I’m always working on new educational programs, creative collaborations, and ways to uplift the lash community with positivity and professionalism.
Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. Who were you before the world told you who you had to be?
Before the world told me who I had to be, I was someone who didn’t realize her own strength. I was a wife and caretaker who felt unsure of her purpose — someone who didn’t believe she could ever be a business owner or build something meaningful on her own. At that time, I didn’t see the bigger picture for myself; I just knew I wanted more, even if I didn’t know what that “more” was yet.
Stepping into the beauty industry helped me rediscover the confident, creative, and capable woman I always had inside me. I learned that I could design a life filled with purpose, independence, and joy — not just for myself, but to inspire other women to do the same.
Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
There were definitely moments when I wanted to quit, but one in particular stands out. After leaving the first place I worked, I decided to rent a space somewhere new. The rent was high, but I was told I’d get help building my clientele — unfortunately, that help never came. After just one month, I couldn’t afford to stay, and I remember feeling absolutely defeated and disappointed.
Leaving that space and returning to my old one felt humbling, but it also lit a fire in me. I promised myself that next time, I’d rely on my own drive and dedication — and that experience became a turning point. It pushed me to work harder, build smarter, and create the successful business I have now, nearly four years later.
I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
My close friends would say that what matters most to me is people — the connections I build, the way I make others feel, and the love I put into everything I do. They’d probably tell you I care deeply about helping others grow, whether it’s my clients, other lash artists, or my family.
They’d also say I value kindness, authenticity, and hard work. I pour my heart into my business because I want every client to feel beautiful, confident, and cared for. At the end of the day, what matters most to me is creating something meaningful — a life and a brand built on passion, integrity, and love.
Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. What do you think people will most misunderstand about your legacy?
What people might most misunderstand about my legacy is that it came easily. From the outside, people see a confident business owner with a thriving lash brand, loyal clients, and a beautiful suite. What they don’t see are the years of doubt, fear, and struggle it took to get here. My journey wasn’t about overnight success — it was about resilience, faith in myself, and learning to stand tall when everything felt uncertain. My legacy isn’t just about lashes — it’s about showing other women that they can rebuild, rise, and create a life they once thought was impossible.
