Life & Work with Jessica Litteral of Thornton

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jessica Litteral.

Hi Jessica, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I’ve been baking my entire life but really got into it more in 2021 when I decide to start my LLC. Baking has always been an exciting side hobby for me that I used to do for my kids but quickly expanded beyond that over the years. It’s taken a lot of persistence to gain the skills that I have and so produce the products that I do. I make anything from simple cakes, to cookies, breads, candies and so much more. The name Mix it Upp comes from the idea of not settling on being good at one thing but mixing it up and touching on everything possible .

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It’s has been a tough road gaining the confidence to try to learn new skills, it’s just a big test of trial and error but having fun with it in the process.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
The thing I am most proud of is not settling for one thing but instead learning a vast variety of skills to be able to teach a wider market and expand my skills for my own fun as well. I think what sets me apart is my hand made fondant details in my cakes as well as unique flavors.

We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
I don’t think luck has anything to do with it just perseverance.
