We recently had the chance to connect with Shari Barta and have shared our conversation below.
Shari, we’re thrilled to have you with us today. Before we jump into your intro and the heart of the interview, let’s start with a bit of an ice breaker: Have you stood up for someone when it cost you something?
Right now I am standing up for all of my clients, staff, and business. I am going into legal battles with the landlord of my first location due to negligent care of the building that has resulted in months of mold exposure. I have made the bold move of shutting down my primary location and shifting everything into my second location. It is so scary but in my heart I know it is the right thing to do.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi! I’m Shari Barta, a pelvic health occupational therapist and founder of Posture Power Wellness—a boutique wellness studio in Denver where therapy meets movement. I’m passionate about helping people move better, feel stronger, and live pain-free through mindful, pelvic-informed Pilates and functional movement.
My journey started as a personal mission—to heal my own pelvic health issues after having two children. What began as a search for answers turned into a calling to help others do the same.
What makes Posture Power Wellness unique is that everything we do is rooted in clinical expertise yet delivered in an empowering, approachable way. Whether it’s in-studio or online, our programs help people reconnect with their bodies, restore confidence, and build real strength from the inside out. Today, we’re expanding our second studio, growing our on-demand app, and continuing to build a community that’s redefining what wellness truly means.
Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. What relationship most shaped how you see yourself?
Becoming a mom has shaped everything about who I am. Before motherhood, I was often insecure—I didn’t feel fully at home in my own body and wasn’t quite sure where I fit in the healthcare world. But bringing my two favorite little humans into the world changed everything. The experience transformed not only my body but also how I see myself. It led me to discover my true calling as a pelvic floor therapist—a path that allows me to help others reconnect with their own strength, confidence, and sense of self, just as I learned to do myself.
If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
I’d tell my younger self to loosen her grip on perfection and make more room for joy. All that drive and determination will take you far, but don’t forget to play, laugh, and be present along the way. Life isn’t meant to be perfect—it’s meant to be lived, fully and freely.
Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. Whom do you admire for their character, not their power?
For a long time, I struggled with how to define myself—I was a pelvic floor occupational therapist and a Pilates instructor, living in the space between healthcare and movement. I often felt like I didn’t fully belong in either world. Then I met Lindsey Vestal, a trailblazing pelvic floor occupational therapist who helped carve this path for others. Her courage, authenticity, and passion for expanding what’s possible in our field inspired me to embrace my own niche with pride. She showed me that you don’t have to fit perfectly into one box—you can create your own.
Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
I hope people say that I helped change the way the world thinks about pelvic floor therapy. That I took something often hidden in silence or embarrassment and made it approachable, empowering, and even joyful.
Through Posture Power Wellness, I’ve worked to redefine what healing looks like—fusing therapy and movement, science and soul. I wanted to show that pelvic floor therapy isn’t just about recovery; it’s about rediscovering your strength, confidence, and connection to your body.
If people remember me as someone who helped them feel seen, capable, and proud of their bodies—and as someone who opened doors for others in the pelvic health space—then I’ll know I did exactly what I was meant to do.
