We recently had the chance to connect with Robert N. Ruesch and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Robert N., thank you so much for joining us today. We’re thrilled to learn more about your journey, values and what you are currently working on. Let’s start with an ice breaker: Who are you learning from right now?
We have an excellent teaching pastor at our church. For the last two years, we have been studying the books of 1st and 2nd Peter. I believe you never stop learning. Each day brings me new thought and revelations.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I am a Christian and an author. My focus in life has been to bring an understanding of a myriad of subjects. From writing medical articles in the 1970s to writing articles of individuals for newspapers, I have covered many interviews. To me, bringing the purpose, meaning, and quality of an individual to light in an article is a calling.
I have written four books. One is a children’s book for Advent – The Elf NOT On the Shelf. In giving myself COVID and in trying to breathe; I wrote the story of Gilbert, the Elf. Another author friend of mine shared her elf story each day; from that to Facebook to a book was the journey.
As an author, writer, creator, I have a passion for placing words that strike an emotion for the reader. You can find all of my books on Amazon; just look under my name, Robert N. Ruesch.
Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. What relationship most shaped how you see yourself?
My relationship with Jesus Christ has shaped my life in ways I have a challenge explaining. The Bible says we “are fearfully and wonderfully made.” Because I believe this is true, my relationship with God’s Son becomes the focal-point of why I exist.
What fear has held you back the most in your life?
I feel we all have a fear of failure. Failure in relationships, in our work, in our perception of who we are. Yet, when you look at our potential, the things we have achieved through determination, we are a success. There is a saying that the longest journey starts with the first step. I have to determine my first step in starting a new book, an article, an academic paper. That fear of the first step (word) causes me to pause.
Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? Where are smart people getting it totally wrong today?
Smart people do not realize that there is a saving grace in Jesus Christ. Smart people rely on their intellect when their knowledge comes from the highest power, the creator of our universe. When people, anyone, realize that we are created from intelligent design, then the magic of living happens.

I am doing what the Lord called me to do, write. I share my stories at author events, the challenging, the exciting and the sorrow.
