Check Out Erin Burnett’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Erin Burnett.

Hi Erin, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Despite being diagnosed with invasive breast cancer at the age of 28, I refused to let cancer define me. I fought through an incredibly difficult treatment journey and pushed my self personally and professionally. I worked hard to move up through all roles in a medical office, to really learn the in’s and out’s of all roles. I was able to become a practice manager which was the goal I had set for myself. I wanted to stay in a field of patient care where I would be able to help patients, motivate and manage staff, and assist providers. At Vibrant Health of Colorado, we provide outstanding integrative and personalized primary care, functional medicine, Gynecology, hormone replacement therapy, and weight loss care. After receiving a mastectomy tattoo through Personal Ink in 2019, I was determined to support others and get involved. I have a passion for giving back and her role as the Personal Ink Program Manager for Personal Ink reflects my dedication. As a P.ink Day recipient, volunteer, and local leader, I hope to leverage my experience, passion, drive, and love for my breast cancer community to build this program to reach more artists and recipients. I am incredibly grateful for the artists who generously give their time and talent to help recipients heal by reclaiming the image they see in the mirror, and I am excited to continue working with the amazing volunteer local leaders who dedicate their hearts to our recipients and make P.ink Day events possible.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Being diagnosed at 28 yrs old was incredibly difficult. Our kids were young at 4 and 7 yrs old. My cancer was aggressive so the treatment was just as difficult and aggressive. After Chemo, I had a bilateral mastectomy, attempted reconstruction, did radiation, and had a total hysterectomy. My attempt at reconstruction was a nightmare. Infections overtook my body and I had many surgeries to remove the infected and necrotic breast tissue. Ultimately, I ended up having to give up on reconstruction. This was an incredibly difficult thing to accept. I was left in pain and severely deformed.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a passionate and highly motivated Healthcare Manager with 17 years’ experience in Women’s Health. I have eagerly worked through each role in a medical office to develop my multifaceted approach. I bring a unique appreciation and understanding of the many roles and responsibilities that make a practice successful. Patient care, compassion, and leadership motivate and drive me daily, and together with my team, I ensure the practice provides quality and compassionate healthcare for each and every patient. My office, at Vibrant Health of Colorado is making the exciting jump to a Membership based practice in March of 2026 and breaking away from the restrictions and red tape that insurance puts on patient care. We are incredibly excited to be able to give our patients the care they deserve and practice the medicine we believe in!

Additionally, I am the program manager for Personal Ink, a Program of F Cancer. This is where my joy is. We are dedicated to empowering people to reclaim their bodies after breast cancer treatment. Through education and connection with experienced tattoo artists, we are committed to ensuring that breast cancer never has to leave the last mark. We host P.ink Days in cities across the United States to bring women together to celebrate their bodies and provide tattoos throughout the year through the P.ink Angel Fund.

Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
My husband and 2 sons deserve all the credit. They have loved, motivated, and believed in me through it all.
