We’re looking forward to introducing you to Rachel Webb . Check out our conversation below.
Rachel , it’s always a pleasure to learn from you and your journey. Let’s start with a bit of a warmup: What are you most proud of building — that nobody sees?
I am proud of being able to continue to show up for client’s and create a space for client’s that allows them to come to conclusions and revelations that improve their lives.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I am an introvert who loves one on one work with others. I find the psychotherapy process such a personal one and such a special process. I see myself as the that I am the supporter to help clients come to their own conclusions about how they can thrive in their life. I find that everyone actually has what they need within them. This is why I named my psychotherapy practice Inner Light Counseling. I truly believe we all have the inner light within us to live the life we want to live.
Okay, so here’s a deep one: Who taught you the most about work?
My uncle David taught me the most about work. He was the owner of his father’s print shop that he took over with his cousin. When I was a teenager I worked at his print shop tying tags. He taught me the value of taking care of your employees and be proud of your work. He taught me to show up and do your job to the best of your ability. I felt so good being treated as an employee and as an adult by him since he was such a role model for me. I appreciate that he took a chance on me.
If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
If I could say one kind thing to my younger self I would say there is so much more to come including the best is yet to come. As I think about myself in my 20s, I think that I never could have guessed that at 37 I would start my own business and truly thrive. I try to continue to think of the best as yet to come on my hard days.
Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. What are the biggest lies your industry tells itself?
The psychotherapy industry tells therapists the lie that there is always more that you always need to expand, make more money or and take it “to the next level”. As far as I am concerned, I am happy with my little private practice and have no desire to expand to a group practice, do private pay only or do speaking engagements. I thrive in the one-on-one processing with clients and will continue to do so.
Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. When do you feel most at peace?
I feel most at peace when I am in nature and feel the sun on my skin. There is a natural rhythm to nature that I appreciate. It feels like there is no resistance in nature and it knows what to do. I feel like there is so much peace in that.
