Inspiring Conversations with Megan Banich of The Magic Beans Landscaping and Snow Removal Maintenance LLC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Megan Banich.

Hi Megan, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Magic Beans Landscaping & Snow Removal Maintenance LLC was founded by Megan Banich in 2017, when she was 17 years old. What began as a small, self-built landscaping business started as a way to create independence and work directly with the land for healthy living, but it quickly grew into something more intentional.

As the company expanded in Boulder County, Magic Beans became known for its highly personalized service and strong client relationships, growing into one of the region’s most trusted regenerative landscaping companies while also establishing itself as a leader in Boulder City for snow shoveling services. Over time, the business shifted away from conventional landscaping models toward regenerative practices that restore soil health, improve water retention, strengthen ecosystems, and capture carbon from the atmosphere. This transition was driven by firsthand experience managing land and seeing how thoughtful, soil-focused practices create measurable, long-term results that you can actually see.

Today, Magic Beans operates as a purpose-driven holistic landscaping and snow removal company focused on delivering high-quality, personalized service while implementing regenerative solutions wherever possible. The work centers on building and maintaining landscapes that support healthier soil, improved water retention, and stronger local ecosystems. What began as a teenage business has grown into a long-term commitment to land stewardship and regeneration, creating real impact through the quality and integrity of the work itself rather than relying on ineffective or superficial eco-friendly labels.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It hasn’t been a smooth road, but starting the business before I turned 18 shaped me in ways I couldn’t have understood at the time. At 17, I was growing up fast while also dealing with serious personal pressure, including my father having a heart attack. He fully recovered and is healthy today, but the experience was emotionally intense and forced me to confront how quickly life can change.

During that same period, I was struggling with substance abuse myself. I knew that if I stayed on that path, it would eventually kill me. Building Magic Beans became a way out — working outside every day, exhausting my body, staying accountable, and grounding myself in the land helped me get sober and rebuild my life. I also tried to bring friends into the work, hoping that structure, responsibility, and purpose might help them get sober too. Some showed up, some didn’t, and some simply couldn’t leave that life behind. Losing friends along the way was one of the hardest realities to face and taught me that you can offer a path, but you cannot force someone to walk it.

That experience made something very clear to me early on: there are two paths, and once you choose growth, you have to keep moving forward even if others choose differently. Professionally, that translated into learning rejection conditioning, a concept taught by Brendan Kane — understanding that “no,” whether from a client or from life, is part of progress, not a signal to stop. Learning to accept rejection, loss, and boundaries without collapsing built resilience, self-respect, and clarity. Those lessons — earned the hard way — define how I run my business and how I live my life today.

We’ve been impressed with The Magic Beans Landscaping and Snow Removal Maintenance LLC, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
What sets Magic Beans apart is its commitment to regenerative landscaping where possible. Instead of relying on surface-level “green” trends, the company focuses on practical methods that support healthier soil, improved water retention, stronger root systems, and more resilient landscapes over time. This includes thoughtful plant selection, soil restoration, erosion control, and land management practices that work with natural systems rather than against them. That same mindset carries into snow removal operations, where consistency, safety, and precision are prioritized to protect both properties and surrounding environments.

Brand-wise, Magic Beans is most proud of the integrity behind the work. The company has built its reputation by delivering exactly what it promises, charging fairly for quality labor, and standing behind its results. Clients choose Magic Beans not just for eco-conscious practices, but because they want a contractor they can trust — someone who shows up, communicates clearly, and treats their property with care. At its core, Magic Beans is not just a landscaping and snow removal company, but a long-term service partner focused on land stewardship, craftsmanship, and doing the work right.
