Hidden Gems: Meet Miranda Haigh of Mystic Miranda’s Yoga

Today we’d like to introduce you to Miranda Haigh.

Hi Miranda, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Hello fellow humans, my name is Miranda Haigh, aka Mystic Miranda. I started doing Yoga in 2013 at Casper College, after I realized that I no longer wanted “just a job,” and that I was ready to start a career. I decided to try yoga to see if I liked it. I wanted a career in the physical fitness realm, but I was already in my 30’s and I knew I wanted something that could be low impact. What I found was so much more than physical fitness! When I started at the college my teacher Patricia, was in her 70s. As I watched her at the front of the class, gracefully doing yoga in front of a room that was predominantly kids just out of high school, I internally was screaming “Yes! This is what I want to do!” I proceeded to take two more semesters of yoga at the college after that, during which I fell completely in love with yoga asana (poses), and I absolutely loved the 5 minutes of “quiet time” at the beginning of class, and the absolute deep relaxation during Savasana at the end of class. I decided to go to the school that my teacher at the college went to, because I loved her style of teaching. In December of 2016 I went to Shoshoni Yoga Ashram in Boulder Co, to immerse myself in a 3 week yoga teacher training. I got certified to teach Yoga, Meditation, and Pranayama. When I started meditation, I realized I had been getting small doses of it already, with that “quiet time” and Savasana. When I started to practice meditation and Pranayama “breathing exercises” along with my yoga asana is when I really began to see the transformation within myself. I fell deeper in love with all aspects of my yoga practice. Yoga comes from the Sanskrit word Yuj, meaning union, or to join. Yoga involves practices that bring you within to your true self, so that you may shine that outward into the world and to the people around you. That is what I was experiencing. I was more in tune with myself, as well as the people around me. I no longer spent time complaining, and instead spent time focusing on gratitude. I had better sleep, less stress, and less anger. In fact, every aspect of my life improved. I knew I was on the right path. I started teaching individual clients in their homes and online, which I still do and I enjoy it very much. I teach chair yoga to seniors as well, both in their homes and at nursing and assisted living homes. In spring of 2017 I started working along side TheraExpressions Meditation, a mental health based yoga and meditation business in Casper Wyoming. I have been working with TheraExpressions for almost 9 years. For them I teach yoga asana, aerial yoga, meditation and pranayama, as well as doing sound healing and Yoga Nidra (sleep yoga).
Yoga is more than a career to me. It is sacred to me. It has enriched my life in every way. It has given me the tools to overcome so much! Each day I feel like I get to live my purpose. What a gift that is! I am excited for the future, proud of how far I’ve come from my past, and anchored with love in the present moment. ~Namaste~

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
In 2022 I had surgery on both of my knees. My cartilage and knee caps had almost completely disintegrated due to life circumstances. I could not walk without excruciating pain. I had osteochondral allograft transplantations and tibial tubercle osteotomies on both knees. It has taken 3 years to fully recover. I feel that the mental, physical and emotional challenges this presented would have been so much harder to overcome without my personal yoga practice. Being able to teach people how to improve their relationship with themselves and their body is so rewarding, because I know how much these practices have helped me personally.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
