Rising Stars: Meet Ben Reder of Denver

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ben Reder.

Hi Ben, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Ireland’s Finest Painting Company was founded in 1996 and has been serving the community for nearly 30 years. Ben spent 14 of those years working alongside the original owner, Andrew O’Toole, helping build the company’s reputation, systems, and long-standing relationships. When Andrew decided to move back to Ireland with his family in 2022, he wanted the business to remain in the hands of someone who truly understood it and cared deeply about its future. Ben stepped up to purchase the company, making the transition a natural continuation rather than a change in direction.

That same month—August 2022—we also welcomed twins, our fourth and fifth children, surprise! It was a season of tremendous responsibility and growth, both personally and professionally, and one we embraced with gratitude and determination.

Over the years, our branding has become something many people in the community recognize. Larry the Leprechaun, featured on our trucks and signage, represents our Irish roots, our pride in craftsmanship, and our commitment to being “the finest painters in all the land.” It reflects how we approach our work—with care, consistency, and high standards.

Since the ownership transition, we’ve continued building on a strong foundation. We’ve maintained the same long-standing painters and team members, have an exceptionally low turnover rate, and remain committed to treating people right. Our focus is simple: do quality work for good people, honor the legacy that’s carried Ireland’s Finest for three decades, and thoughtfully grow into the future.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Like most businesses, the road hasn’t been perfectly smooth, but the challenges have played an important role in shaping who we are today. One of the biggest moments of transition came in 2022 when we stepped into ownership of a well-established company with a long history, while at the same time welcoming twins into our family. Taking on both major responsibilities at once required focus, adaptability, and a strong sense of purpose.

There were also the everyday challenges that come with leading a growing service business—making decisions that affect employees and customers, maintaining high standards during demanding seasons, and navigating changes in the economy and industry. We learned quickly the importance of steady leadership, clear communication, and staying grounded in our values.

What carried us through was our commitment to doing things the right way. By treating our team well, staying consistent in our expectations, and focusing on quality work for good people, we were able to navigate those challenges and come out stronger. Each obstacle reinforced our confidence and helped shape the culture that continues to guide Ireland’s Finest today.
