Daily Inspiration: Meet Chad Gould

Today we’d like to introduce you to Chad Gould.

Hi Chad, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
We are second generation plumbers. Our dad was a plumber and so we were both raised as brothers in the same trade and followed in his foot steps. When I met my wife she encouraged us to start a family business on the side, so me and my brother are the plumbers and my wife runs the business. It’s a family business and we use our family last name “Gould”

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
We are finding that serving many areas of the city such as various counties and cities add a lot more cost to be able to do business there. For example to install a water heater, you need to get a permit, the permit depends on where they home owner lives is it the city or the county and then each city and county has different requirements to work within their limits to pull a permit you have to pay a fee to be be an approved contractor…it is just a lot of steps to get approved. We have also had to advocate to get certain requirements for bigger projects waived. It is a lot of red tape to get through. But we are figuring it out and growing!!

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a master plumber. I work with all areas of plumbing and have throughout my 20 year career growing from an apprentice to journeyman to now master plumber. I can do everything that is needed for plumbing from design work, to rough in, to install and trim. Recently we have been partnering with x-cel and the state to grow in education around heat pump water heaters as they offer a great environmentally friendly solution to heating your water that does not use gas. And there are a ton of great incentives and rebates where folks can get these at little to no out of pocket cost. We would like to be known as an honest, kind, professional, and hard working company who you can trust and reflects doing things right. I think what sets us apart is being that family friendly company. We have three owners, that’s it. We don’t have a payroll or large company, we work as a team to meet families with their needs and want to help serve and support their plumbing needs.

Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
Everyone has a story in life of things happening, but I think it is how I responded and reacted in those situations to be where I am today that has made the most impact. I have learned and grown and am so proud of where I am today. I also think our business is thriving with word of mouth and from our customers having a positive and good experience and then sharing our information with others. You make one great connection and impact and that can lead to three more great leads. Which feels great!
