Today we’d like to introduce you to Shannon Nisley.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I initially began my career with a Business Marketing degree from Colorado State University along with a medical coding certificate. That foundation gave me a strong understanding of both the business and operational sides of healthcare. I spent three years working in an orthopedic office in Colorado, where I gained valuable experience in clinical workflow, insurance processes, and patient coordination.
After that, I felt called to be more directly involved in patient care, so I went back to school to earn my Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Wyoming. I worked for three years as a hospital nurse in Wyoming, which really strengthened my clinical skills and confidence in acute care.
Eventually, I moved back to Northern Colorado, where I continued working as a hospital nurse and later as a house supervisor while completing my Master’s degree to become a Family Nurse Practitioner. Balancing leadership responsibilities with graduate school really shaped my ability to multitask, problem-solve, and lead a team effectively.
After working for a year as an NP in rural Colorado, I realized I wanted to serve my own community and work closer to home. That’s when I began the process of opening my own primary care clinic in Eaton, Colorado.
Within the first year of opening the primary care practice, I saw an opportunity to better serve our patients by adding medical spa services. What started as a hybrid model quickly grew, and after a year we expanded into a larger space that allowed us to create a dedicated medical spa within our clinic.
Today, we are a thriving hybrid primary care and medical spa practice in Eaton, Colorado. I’m proud to provide comprehensive, patient-centered care in the community where I live on a small farm with my husband and our two children. Building a clinic that serves both the medical and aesthetic needs of our community has truly been a full-circle journey for me.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It was difficult juggling a career, school and kids. I was working mostly night shift while I was going to school so I was constantly tired.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?

How do you think about luck?
Good Luck: I truly feel that every path I’ve taken in my life has led me to where I am today. Every degree and certification I’ve pursued—from business marketing to nursing and ultimately becoming a Family Nurse Practitioner—has played a meaningful role in preparing me to start and run my own clinic. I feel fortunate that each step in my education and career aligned in a way that allowed me to combine my passion for healthcare with the skills needed to build a successful business.
