Today we’d like to introduce you to Frank Torres.
Hi Frank, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
We moved to Denver from Hawaii with a fresh start in mind, and my wife and I kept coming back to one thing, we love cleaning. Not just ‘tidying up,’ but the transformation: taking a space and making it feel peaceful, fresh, and cared for.
But we always had a problem with the cleaning industry: the harsh chemicals. That strong smell, the irritation, and the thought of it lingering in the air and on surfaces, especially around kids and pets, never sat right with us. So we decided early: if we’re going to do this, we’re going to do it differently.
I think Hawaii shaped that mindset in me. When you grow up around the ocean and wildlife, you grow up respecting nature. You see how connected everything is, what you put down the drain, what you spray in the air, what gets washed into the water. So eco-friendly cleaning felt like the most natural path.
With help from some friends, we started making our own natural, effective cleaning products. We tested, learned, improved, and once we dialed it in, people noticed. Green & Tidy started with just a few clients, then referrals took off because people loved how their homes, and even their workplaces, felt afterward: clean, fresh, and not full of chemical fumes.
Then the pandemic hit. A lot of people lost work, and we had more demand than we could handle. So we brought in friends and family, not just to grow a business, but to support each other. Today we have about four or five teams cleaning in the Highlands Ranch area, and we’re still a close knit group, serving both residential and commercial cleaning.
Green & Tidy isn’t just about cleaning spaces, it’s about helping people breathe easier, protecting families and pets, supporting local jobs, and doing something responsible for the environment at the same time.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
As we grew, inflation became a real test for us. The raw materials we use for our eco-friendly products jumped in price, and we had a choice: either dilute the quality or adjust pricing. We chose quality every time. But having those conversations with customers was tough, we’re people, first. We learned to be transparent about why: our products are made intentionally, our methods take time, and we want to keep a strong team and deliver consistent results
In the end, we realized: if we want to serve families and businesses the right way, we have to stay sustainable, without compromising what makes Green & Tidy different.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about My Green & Tidy LLC?
What sets us apart is the combination of our eco-friendly products, our method, and our professionalism. We make our own natural cleaning products, we focus on consistency and detail, and we’re also insured and bonded. So clients aren’t just hiring a random cleaner, they’re working with a small local professional company that’s accountable, reliable, and built to protect their home and their trust.
At the end of the day, we want people to feel two things: ‘my home is healthier’ and ‘I can trust this company.
Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
If I could go back, I’d tell myself a few things. First, don’t rush growth, build systems early so quality stays consistent when you start getting more referrals. Second, price for sustainability. Inflation and supply costs change, so your pricing has to reflect quality products, fair pay, and the real time it takes to do the job right. Third, focus on communication, clear expectations, checklists, and follow ups prevent 90% of problems. And lastly, hire slow and train well. It’s better to have fewer clients and a strong standard than to grow too fast and risk your reputation. Word-of-mouth is everything in this business, so protect the trust.
