Today we’d like to introduce you to Ahkeem Jamahl.

Hi Ahkeem, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
The Story Behind 47Visions

Call me A.J. Born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and raised in Atlanta, Georgia, I’ve always believed photography is more than creating images—it’s about preserving emotion, energy, and the beauty of moments that would otherwise fade. A photograph gives people the chance to experience life through another person’s perspective, allowing them to connect with moments they may have never witnessed themselves.

47Visions was born during the COVID-19 pandemic, when the world slowed down and morale was at its lowest. While many of us were confined to our homes, creativity became my way of building community and reminding people that life was still happening. In a small green house off Glenwood Road in Decatur, Georgia, I woke from a vivid dream that left me with one simple thought: remember life—capture it. Time felt fleeting, graduations became virtual, and genuine human connection was increasingly replaced by digital experiences. I couldn’t sit back and watch the world forget what real moments looked like.

So I bought my first camera—a Canon Rebel T7i. Learning photography taught me to appreciate the art of slowing down. Manually adjusting aperture and shutter speed allows me to create photographs that reflect how I see the world, not how a camera decides to. That same philosophy shapes my editing, which I keep natural using Adobe Lightroom.

Atlanta taught me that everyone either lives in their own light or creates one. Through 47Visions, I wanted to create a space where people could feel seen, confident, and connected through authentic storytelling. Today, that vision continues in Denver, where I capture the city’s landscapes, culture, and the people who give it life. My goal has never been to simply take pictures—it’s to preserve life’s most honest, vulnerable moments, because those are often the most beautiful. Every person has a story worth remembering, and every photograph is an opportunity to make sure it never fades.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Building 47Visions has never been without challenges. What began as a creative outlet during the pandemic quickly became a lesson in resilience, patience, and purpose. From learning photography and investing in my first camera to building a client base and earning trust one photoshoot at a time, every obstacle became an opportunity to refine my craft and strengthen my vision.

As the photography industry evolved through social media, AI-generated imagery, and rapidly advancing technology, I remained committed to creating authentic work rooted in real human connection. Rather than chasing trends, I focused on capturing genuine emotion, confidence, and the stories that make every person unique.

Each challenge has shaped not only my business, but also my perspective. 47Visions is a reflection of perseverance and the belief that meaningful moments are worth preserving.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
Outside of photography, I stay connected to my community in a variety of ways. I drive for Lyft, I stream games, and I spontaneously attend random events in the city – which has become one of the most unexpected ways to meet people and hear their stories. After moving to a new city without family nearby and with a small social circle, I looked for opportunities to build genuine connections. Since I’m naturally personable, conversations come easily, and every ride becomes a chance to learn from someone new—something that aligns closely with the values behind 47Visions.

Creativity has always been a part of my life. In my youth, I studied Latin-jazz piano, and I’m still searching for my musician community and opportunities to reconnect with that side of myself. More recently, I’ve stepped into the streaming world as an up-and-coming Twitch creator. Being affiliated has allowed me to connect with new audiences and introduce people to communities and brands they may not have discovered otherwise.

I also work as a private security professional with 1st Response, LLC, where I help create safe and memorable experiences for people, especially during nightlife events downtown. Working in that environment gives me another opportunity to meet people from all walks of life and play a role in making their nights something they’ll remember.

Whether through a camera, a conversation, music, streaming, or service, I’ve always been drawn to bringing people together and creating meaningful connections.

What’s next?
My goal is to become a world-traveling photographer and artist—sharing my work while experiencing and preserving the moments that make life unforgettable. Memories can fade, but a photograph can bring those moments back to life, allowing you to reconnect with the feeling, atmosphere, and story behind them.

There is so much of this world left to explore, and I want Denver to be the foundation of that journey. My vision is to create images that remind people of the beauty around them and capture the moments, people, and places that deserve to be remembered.
